Rewrite History
I heard a statement the other day that if xxxxxxx happens it would rewrite history. Can you rewrite history? I san no. It jas already happened or it would not be history. Your thoughts.

All history is revisionist, so in that sense it can be re-written. If x happens it might change the trajectory of current events, which is known as altering the course of history, but that is a bit of a misnomer. Nitpicking though. 0 -

Of course you can?t really go back in time and change what actually happened. Usually what is meant by rewriting history is some wordsmith or group of them writes a new version of history that fits better into their political agenda.
Another case of rewriting history is when we discover the facts we thought we knew weren?t facts but guesses. How the Universe works is an example of this. Everything I learned in school about the Universe and our Solar System was wrong. I have to unlearn what we thought we knew and now learn what we think we know being careful not to learn it too well because it will be different tomorrow.
Did Davie Crockett die a hero?s death at the Alamo disregarding his injuries and fighting until his last breath, or did he die a sniveling coward executed by General Santa Anna after the battle at the Alamo? I have an opinion but I have no way of knowing.
History has never been an exact science. You just have to choose which is the most believable to you.0 -

And there really are no exact sciences. As you point out science is our very take given what we know today. It is assumed by scientists that we will likely know more next week and need to adjust the description. Unlike religion science is not carved in stone, though that is usually taken by the average citizen to be a weakness rather than a strength.
Whether they even exists an exact "what actually happened'" is debatable. Car wreck, 4 witnesses and one survivor, 5 different stories. There are even serious theories that there are alternate realities where all possible variations of events exist. Can't get my head around that, but proving negatives is damn near impossible.0 -
I don't think you can re write history in a defined timeline, you could theoretically go back in time to a certain date and start a new timeline with a different history. 0 -
I just try to remember many of the events in my life that I have lived to witness first hand.
I have seen many writings of several of these events that I totally disagree with. I know that there are always several sides to most everything but what gets put in print, many times comes with an agenda or ulterior motive, meant to not only deceive but change facts for someone's best interest.
I figure that someday, after I am dead, I will be able to talk to the real folks involved in these histories and finally get things right!0 -
History is rewritten all the time. Who will dispute it once they are dead? Do google searhes and see how things are already twisted. Political correctness will make things even stranger.

Case in point would be who discovered America...
History books would have you believe that Christopher Columbus discovered it. But that's not true. If you dwell into it a little further history will show that Leif Ericson discovered it back in the 9th or 10th century... But that still is not true
Nobody knows for sure who discovered America, other than it was the Vikings. Leif Ericson only lead an expedition back in the 9th or 10th century to see if the Vikings colonize it.. shortly after Leif Erikson Expedition the Vikings started colonizing America...

In 1965 at McMurdo Station one of the cooks looked outside and saw a penguin waddling down the street. He chased it down and killed it with a butcher knife.
