Craftsman tools
Went to Lowe's today to check out DEALS on Craftsman tools. Every one was made in China. Another great brand gone to H..L. What a shame?

I have been seeing ads on tv for the last couple of days for Craftsman tools that are now being sold at K-MART.

Your average shopper doesn't give a DAMN about where something is made. If they did, we wouldn't be in this situation. I owned a tool store for 20 years, and 99% of people just plain don't care. They just want it CHEAP! [:(]

Very sad. I have a socket set of 109 Craftsman tools I bought at Sears in Atlanta 30 years ago, made in America of course, and have lost only one socket, the 'ol 7 mm. Didn't use that one much.
Great tools. Makes me sick to see them made in China. I would be willing to pay more for American made tools, but, who cares what I think.0 -
I agree I have craftsman tools from 45 years ago I bought and liked the life time replacement they offered . I would guess a I returned few dozen sockets and a handful of ratchets over the years .
we see it more every day people were all excited to have Trump say america first and add the import tax until the sticker shock is taking place
all the slave labor ( or close ) from China
as normal most want to make tons of money but do not want to pay the end price on a product when made here in the USA even if they are the ones making it ,demanding more money better insurance and so on but still run to Asia made products
company's like wall-mart made billions along with china cranking out cheap and throw away products to sell to the masses0 -

I still have many Craftsman tools I bought back in the mid '50's. They use to be a great product. 0 -
Back in the early 80s my wife asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I told her a good 1/2 inch socket set. She bought me a set of Craftsman, yep made in Taiwan. They have served me well, but not any better than the $9.00 Chinese set That I already had. That was the last Craftsman tools for me.
About five years ago I stripped out a 1/2 inch ratchet. I took it back and they said go back and get a new one. I told the clerk that I wasn't goin to take it out of the package and was going to save it till they went belly up then sell it on ebay as a collectible.

I go to DOLLAR TREE and buy over 80%of my things there that are made in the USA! Yes, small items but that gives jobs to somebody - I have myself been doing this for over 30 of but USA, my own personal war with imports- 0 -
I talked to a craftsman rep at our Lowe's a couple of weeks ago. I wanted a bargain!! None to be had that day....
The Rep did tell me that craftsman tools were going to be made in America next year. He was excited about it. I told him I was pleased. He was trying to sell me all of the new brushless drills. I told him I would buy if they would fit my 19.2 volt batteries. They've discontinued those0 -
Correct I spoke with a rep today and they also said they will either be going back to Taiwan or the US for the hand tools soon....the stuff that is being made I Taiwan is actually pretty good quality and is carrying the lifetime warranty again.
Some of the tool boxes I saw today were made in the usa.
I hope Lowe's revives the brand and restores the reputation behind the name.0 -

Not just Lowe's, our local Ace Hardware store is carrying Craftsman tools. Over the weekend I had to do a valve adjustment on my old golf cart. I found that I needed a 10m metric open\box end wrench. Looked through my mess of tools and had everything but!!
Harbor Freight did not have just one wrench for sale but I bought a whole set for the whopping price of 7.99! [:0] I know, I could have, should have, picked up a single Craftsman at ACE but would have probably paid close for one as I did for a set of the cheap Chinese tools. I also saved time and gas money. H|F is 20 miles round trip closer to home.0
