Burgers Cooked in 100-Year-Old Grease
Memphis, Tennessee
The secret of the tasty-taste of Dyer's hamburgers, according to Dyer's Burgers, is that they're cooked in the grease that the restaurant started with back in 1912. Or at least some of that grease (The restaurant adds fresh grease to the old grease every now and then). To its credit, Dyer's Burgers has been very protective of its grease over the years, moving it under armed guard as the restaurant has relocated to various Memphis addresses.
If you feel uneasy about burgers fried in "ancient grease," the restaurant does say that the grease is strained every day. So it's clean 100-year-old grease.

I saw a little documentary on this place on Discovery once, a five minute show.
Yes, 100 year old grease. They deep fat fry the burgers. And the customers love 'em and keep coming back for more.
For me, no thanks.0 -
Egg rolls are good [:D].

OK :
Not sure bout 'deep fried burgers' ???
But :
I know a guy who owned a 'hot dog' stand @ a very popular tourist trap :
claimed he NEVER changed the hot dog water : just added when / as needed ??? Some of the best Dogs you ever ate ????
Thanks !!!0 -
There was a restaurant in Troy, NY that made their own french fries and never changed the grease for over 50 years. Those were the best damned fries I ever had! [:p] 0 -
And we change our fryer grease after every 3-4 uses 0 -
Grease will get rancid over time and with that said, I would not eat one of those burgers ever![xx(] 0
