This won't be a hit with the self-important people, but most don't need a phone that connects to the internet and security systems. They need a brass key.

Kids don't need cellphones. They need two parents to raise them.

The more complicated you make life and the more devices you surround yourself with, the more unbearable life becomes.

I was lucky. I was able to quit buying on credit. I own cars, property, free and clear. I sold all my gold stock a decade ago. My monthly bills are utilities and taxes so I'm not really a target of hacking since I show up on few radars. Be careful online. The boogie man will get you. [;)]

    You think so, huh? My poor ass got hit last year for few sandwiches at Sub-Way in Georgia and a (I'm thinking) cell phone service payment in Washington State. I'm more cash in hand guy even shopping locally. A few odds and bits on line because I can't get it locally. DVDs, oil cooler lines, yellow cake uranium. You know the basics.

    It is a comfortable feeling for me to know I owe nothing except current utilities. Credit on line occasionally, pay cash or check on everything local. Took long time to accomplish totally debt free, but well worth the struggle.

    only downside to being debt free is owning something they can extort taxes out of you....rent instead of owning home, old,old vehicle(antique tag $17 a year), liablity insurance only , gotcha with sales tax on most everything...if you sell property they rape you with capital gains tax...BS...no one ever came out and helped me pay for it...state and fed is total of 19%...my last payment comes in this year and the only thing to do is buy something deductible...you spend the money but at least you have something to use ...hilde stated goal was to raise fed to 28% and i am sure the state would then double their 4%...glad she went down in flames

    For me these days, paying utilities has become the new car payment, and buying groceries is the new house payment![:(!][V]

    Property taxes and insurance are helping me in my quest to downsize my gun collection.[V][xx(]

    Sad but true, my masterplan is to leave this world just as I found it, with nothing.
