Sorry to hear the sad news.

My pet/companion/friend is more than 25 years old.
She can't fly anymore, even though she tries when she sees me.
She tries to fly onto my shoulder like she used to.
I have to pick her up off the floor and put her on my shoulder now.
She still gives me kisses, and cleans my facial hair.
I am afraid she will be joining Pete before too long.

    Condolences...

Can you tell us about your buddy - genus and breed and average lifespan and personality and flight characteristics and diet and living arrangements???

I understand that some parrots get quite large and can be quite varied in coloration of plumage and can live well past 50 years...

Please school us and share another pic of your up to it.

I know it's not the same but we live with a duck in the house and a neighbor has a pair of owls.

I think many of us would like to share your interest

I am sorry for your loss

    Mike

    Sorry for your loss.

My wife insisted on "rescuing" a 15 y o yellow naped amazon and a 3 y o sulfur crested cockatoo. The amazon hates me with a passion, but fortunately he can't fly. We may have to trim the cockatoo's wings when she gets older.

We expect them to outlive us and don't have a clue who to leave them to.

    Sorry for your loss.

My best friend that I grew up with came home from work one day to find a big green parrot on his front porch. When he opened the door to his house the parrot flew in and decided to stay. Donnie built him a perch in the corner of his living room and he sat there and talked up a storm for almost 8 years. Then one day George, the parrot, decided it was time to move on so he flew out the door and never returned.

We always wondered where he came from and where he went? We figured he's probably sitting in somebody else's house and will until he decides to move on again. Those birds live to be 50 to 75 years old so he's probably still around some where today.

I'm very sorry you lost your friend. It's just awful to lose a pet no matter what species. Thinking of lost pets is when I hope there is a Heaven because I want my pets to go there and I hope to see them again some day. I always tell people that when I die I'll know I'm in the right place if my dogs are there.

Also very sad to hear of your loss. After all those years together it will take a long time to adjust to your feathered friends absence!

I remember reading something a long time ago, a Native American fable where the first men came to be placed here on the earth.

All of the animals were here already and feeling sorry for man who was born weak and naked. Each animal gave away one of his many cherished attributes so that men could survive.

Each animal did there part giving man everything needed and all of these gifts piled so high that humans achieved superior advantage over every other creature.

It was the wolf who sacrificed his 100 year longevity.[V]
