Star BM
Another website that deals in "Classic Firearms" had these on sale for $200 shipped. So I bought on to play with. It is basically a scaled down 1911 with simplified internals and in 9mm.
So far I like it. Good trigger and 100 rounds through it so far and no failures.
For the price I don't think it can be beat. Mine arrived with some bluing loss but no rust or pitting. It is a used surplus gun after all. I am really thinking about ordering a couple more when they go back on sale just because.

Star made good guns.
I have a Star PD in 45acp. Its very accurate and easy to carry/conceal.0 -
I always thought Star was the best of the Spanish Gun Companies but when Interarms in Virginia closed so did Star.I also bought a PD way back around 1973 or so and it was a great little lightweight .45 acp. My gun would even feed 185 gr. semi wadcutter target ammo. You just had to keep an eye on the plastic recoil buffer and replace it when it was worn. 0 -

Star products are imo built really well. Have had a lot of Star pistols and never had any problems with them. All the way from the Firecat to the BM, all good. 0 -
I bought one a few months ago . So far I am happy . Factory loads run like a champ and it is accurate . Still playing with my cast boolits and reloads overall it has been cheap fun 0 -

I have a Star SA 380. I like the fact that you can engage the safety with the hammer down and everything is then locked up - you can't cock the hammer or rack the slide. Also has a magazine disconnect - so if magazine is stored separately - unauthorized person can't fire it. I don't like the fact that the magazine will not fall free either loaded or empty.
Also have a Star Megastar 10 - double action - ambidextrous safety - double stack magazine and magazine disconnect. Magazine will fall free loaded or empty.

The BM is a great pistol. Also a fan of the Star PD in 45 ACP. Star was ahead of their time when they introduced the PD. They are compact and great carry pieces.
The older Modele As and Bs were well made as well.0 -
There is a Star model B Super on auction on the GB auction side - nice looking - with box and manual.

The BM is a nice little pistol but I would exercise caution in the use of +P ammo.
If you feel the need for +P 9mm, you probably should be looking at a bigger caliber anyway.0 -
Both Star and Astra made in Spain are good guns. $200 was a very good buy on your PD . 0
