COMET Channel August 5th Marathon

Supermarionation was a type of puppetry used in the early 60's for kids shows.
When I was five, a show called FIREBALL XL5 came from Great Britain and lasted a year from '62-'63. I had never seen anything like it.

Watch the clip to see if any of your shows are on it. This year is great for old TV shows I haven't seen in 50 years.

    Comet here it is Channel 23-3 and has the worst programming ever I have no clue who would watch some of those movies but I would rather watch paint dry

    I am a sucker for SciFi especially 60's and early 70's stuff.


    Some of my favorite shows are 60's scifi

    I am big fan of the Invaders, Space 1999 and UFO. Gerry Anderson was great.

    I remember Fireball XL5. Interesting but at the same time kind of hokey.
    I recall that our TV at the time had a problem with the picture rolling, static, and other anomalies. The temporary fix was to thump it on the side or top; fiddling with the settings occasionally worked, too.
    I marvel at the high definition TVs of today.

    I enjoyed some good ole Buster Crab in the role of Flash Gordon yesterday late afternoon on Comet! I too am a fan of early sci-fi stuff, back in the day when one's imagination overruled all of digitalized animation, blood and guts crap now days!

    Thunderbirds? was a Saturday morning staple in the NYC area in the 60's.
    Flash Gordon series- a 25 cent afternoon matinee movie downtown.
    We grew up in the best of times.

    I also remember watching Fireball XL5 back in the day. IIRC they used marionette type puppets with strings attached. [:D]

    I do enjoy COMET (the TV station) but along with having to constantly adjust my antenna to get good reception, their long drawn out commercial breaks can be annoying! Not complaining mind you. It is FREE to watch and the commercial time gets this old fat guy a chance for a smoke break or to make a sandwich![:0][8D]

    Spent much of my early evening watching "Thunderbird 6" and the last hour of another Thunderbird movie in the series. It was great entertainment!!

    I have to add that this series along with all of the puppeteering and imaginative future technology was way ahead of it's time (1965)!

    I had flashbacks of my youth and what got me into GI Joes (early 12" dolls[:I])
