Captain D's
Always liked their menu and, finally, they're building one nearby.

I like their fish better than Long John Silvers, less greasy, though not as big.
We were there a few days ago, I told my wife ?I can whip any man in here.?
She looked around and said ?I guess so, they?re all 80 years old!?0 -
I used to like them, but the ones around here have gone so downhill I've not been to one in a while.
I used to love their fish. I'm one of those MALT VINEGAR lovers....its been a while since I've had it, but thinking about it I can almost smell it now.0 -
We've got one 3 miles from our house but after spending 15 to 20 minutes in the drive thru on several occasions and finding that they only put approx. half the amount of food in the to-go orders as they do for sit down we quit going there. Instead we go to the one in Griffin, GA which is 14 miles away from us where they're faster and they don't stiff you on the to-go orders. 0 -
whenever I get an itch for fast food fish, I go to the walmart freezer section and save 200% on their fish....and make my own tartar sauce. [^] 0 -
Have been a fan forever , but been in a couple different ones lately and they were filthy dirty. told the wife they must have had a big crowd for lunch, blew it off. then my son and i went to another location only to find the same mess! it was nasty. 0 -
We used to have a Cedrick,s Fish and Chips here. Sooooooo good!! 0 -
I like Captain D's a lot. love the food, cool restaurants.
like the malt vinegar too. but it gives me EXPLOSIVE diarrhea.1/2 hour later. guaranteed. like someone lit the fuse. what is that "colon blow" stuff they sell? I don't need it. just go to Cap't D's and eat some fish with malt vinegar on it. omg0 -
No Captain D's in Northern Illinois that I'm aware of. I did like it when I was in college in Kentucky....A long long time ago! 0 -
Way back in the day around here we had "Arthur Treachers" Fish & Chips. They were the best!! Old Arthur was an Englishman from many Shirley Temple movies and a side kick of Merv Griffin.
Our local Long John Silvers went out of business quite a while ago and finding fast fish around here depends upon your skills with hook line and sinker!0 -
In my neck of the woods we had a Long John Silver that used to be good. They're out of business now for obvious reasons. The fish/chicken was so greasy it almost made you sick and the people working there were sub-par at best. I swear the deep fryer was set 50-75*F too low. We have a Goody's here too that opened about 20 years ago heard they're good from the south but they have the same problem too, greasy fish/chicken ect.
Pretty sad when McDonald's fish sandwich is better than these two places.
The best fish I've had is the fish I buy/catch and cook at home.
1" thick fillets and a light coating of progreso italian style bread crumbs fried with canola oil or just baked in the toaster oven with lemon and a few seasonings.
No I don't expect to find what I make at home in a fast food joint but I don't expect it to be like drinking grease.
Good day gentlemen...and a happy 4th.
I think I'll grill some salmon and porterhouse steak. [:p]0 -
If restaurants changed their oil as often as I do in my vehicles, there would be a lot better EATS out there in La La land![:)] 0
