    Variety is said to be the spice of life. I enjoy the variety of both pie & cake. Just not at all crazy for "Wedding Cake" [xx(]

    P.S. Both are highly improved with a scoop or two of good vanilla ice cream![:p]

    This thread reminded me that I had a Chocolate walnut cheese cake in tbe fridge. I had one glorious slice last night. I will have another glorious slice in your honor, this evening.

    I also like Blueberry pie.

    Pumpkin pie with Whipped cream is not bad either.

    Of course, the Strawberry Angel food cake with lots of whipped cream, was not bad either the other night.

    And, and, and, ......................................................

    Kuchen is cake right?

    I like pie, make no mistake. I just remember my teen years having to get up an help out with the milking and feeding. I would grab a slice of coffee cake or Kuchen before heading out the door. Pie was too messy to eat on the fly.

    Most people believe their moms are the best cooks. My mom could bake. One tradition was on our birthdays, we got to pick the meal, including the cake. Poppyseed was my choice.

    I had 9 siblings, so we had cake. Not to forget about all the holidays and other celebrations. That is where the pies took center stage. Lemon Meringue pie. Cherry pie. Apple pie.

    We had a rhubarb stew, had raisins and rhubarb, served in a bowl like soup. That was so good.

    What is interesting to me is that years ago I used to love Hostess Twinkies and Fruit Pies. I can't stand that stuff now.

    My older brother who was in the restaraunt business for many years
    makes the best pineapple upside down cake I have ever sunk my teeth into! It has such a caramelized brown sugar top that just melts in your mouth along with those sweet rings of pineapple! [:p][:p]
