McDonald's is giving away free food "for life" in a contest aimed at boosting the popularity of its online ordering system.

The winner will receive what the company calls its new McGold Card, good for two free meals a week for 50 years. The prize is valued at $52,350, according to the contest website. The promotion starts Friday and runs through Aug. 24.

    Last night out of convinince I dined at a McDonald?s. I ordered a burger and some kind of bar b q chicken. I took a bite of the chicken which was just a hunk of fat (where do you get a fatty piece of chicken?) and tasted like spicy cough syrup and threw it away. The burger sucked as well but was better than the chicken and I ate most of it. Their food used to be better I think. No more.

    I may enter, and with my luck I would probably win, have to pay taxes on the "gift" and still not eat that garbage. Although I did like the apple pies in the past, not sure exactly what you win as far as food goes.

    50 years, they probably figured out no one would live for the total 50 years if they ate 2 of their meals a week and it probably isn't transferable.

    I ate at Mickey D's on Thursday because it was the most accessible in the time I had for lunch. About once a year I need to be reminded why I drive right on past McD and look for another place. My usual is Burger King with Hardees a distant 2nd.
    I can get what I need to make it through the afternoon at BK for $4.11. The McD meal cost $8.28 and the fries were soggy. Around here once you get into that $8-9 range, you can catch a lunch buffet but I often don't have that sort of time nor do I need to tank up on a pile of food while working and on the road.

    When I worked at a McDonalds back in high school, their food was a LOT better than it is NOW! That was when the Big Mac was still wearing diapers!

    The hot apple pies were fried not baked (OHHHHH They were Gooood)
    The filet of fish was North Atlantic White fish. The regular burgers and cheese burgers were about 25% bigger and quality beef!
