Boot dryer?

With the recent rains I got to thinking about making a boot dryer.

I?ve seen where it?s both good and bad to put them over heater / ac vents

I?m thinking about diy with pvc to set over the vents.

Will the heated or cooled air hurt them? I know that the ac puts out moist air - does that matter?

Like I said - I?ve seen both good and bad reviews. Any suggestions?

    Your AC puts out DRY air- inside the house.

    Air flow thru the boots is good. Heat or cold- not so much.

    about $70 from many sources. Basically a small fan circulating air into the boots.

    CPU fans are cheap, easy to make a fan dryer with no heat or cold.

    I've been using a Peet dryer for about 20 years now. My Redwing boots go on every night. The last pair lasted 17 years, I don't think warm air is going to hurt your boots. There are no fans in the dryer , just a small heating element that uses very little energy. OH & this dryer has been on steady for all this thime except if there is a power outage. 24/7/365 for 20 years ,, not bad

    I had one of the old "bonnet" type hair dryers and stuck the hose in each boot for a while.

    Worked for me[:D]

    Jeesh just turn them inside out and wear the other side the next day

    Peet dryer or stuff with newspaper and change out every 4 hours.

    I position mine at the bottom of the refrigerator, soles out, foot openings to the grill. Always dry and warm come morning time. The problem occurs when you try to dry them too fast. The leather will dry and crack.

    Thanks for all the suggestions guys! I've got an old PX with a bad hard drive. I may just see how easy it'll be to use the fan! Thanks!

    When my boots leaked- I threw them out.

    I just put my wet boots or shoes out on the black asphalt driveway on a sunny day. In a very short time, they are dry and ready to get wet again. Not a rich guy that likes to pay high utility bills!

    Old trick for saddlebags to keep their shape as they dry. Stuff with newspaper.

    Who here buys news papers these days?[:I] I get a free one every week on Monday but the paper is mostly filled with adds that are mostly non newspaper material. aka magazine paper.
