need a bit of help with base name
U.S.A.F. training facility in what appears to be 1949
this is the pic of my dads air frame repair class, but the base name is cut in half and cant figure which it is
a blow up of the name in the pic
any one who knows, thanks in advance
I know he was in both North or South Dakota, Britain and several posts, but he never really talked about it much
he was air frame repair for the B-17's so he was a real stickler to details when i did body work in his shop...

in case you wonder, pop is the guy front and center, (not surprised at all by that!)

could it be CHANUTE

from that list it would have been either Minot or Grand forks in N Dakota where he spent several years in S.A.C.0 -
Looks like Chanute AFB, Il, just north of Champaign. It is now decommissioned. 0 -
Chanute AFB...they were still training sheet metal guys there in 1968-69....they had a bomber in the training hangar that was absolutely covered with scab patches.... 0 -

long way to go, if i ever get to moms place (sis took it over) have to see if there is any paperwork anywhere to find any orders, service number, ribbons etc
all of this was always just avoided when you asked questions, so now i want to do some digging...0 -
If you ever get over that way, there is a museum...they have the Douglas B-66 that I trained on as an aircraft electrician back in 1968...maybe they still have the bomber with the scab patches.....I think it was a B-29.... 0 -

A lot of my basic training buddies went to Chanute. I went to Sheppard AFB in Texas for my tech school.
I see faces in this picture that sure do look familiar to me! Time sure is strange yet maybe not quite so.[?]0
