Finding new ways to waste tax payers money

These are installed in fourteen Junction City patrol cars, which Maly said costs about $8,000.
Junction City Police Chief Robert Morris said the department has never experienced a vehicle fire, but said it can happen if there's an electrical failure or a crash.
He discovered this system on Saturday and hours later, he said he made the decision to get them installed.
"I can assure you every patrol car from this point forward in Junction City will deploy this fire protection system for the safety of our officers.? Morris said.
Morris said he hopes more police departments across the state of Oregon and the U.S. look into installing these types of devices.

We have 7,000 in our town and three units and - I got a ton of complaints about that, when I was on the City Council.0 -

They steal it from you through the legislature then steal it from you on the street. Sounds like a very powerful criminal gang to me.

That is unbelievable !!! 3 cars is about right. Remember 5 cars for 15,000 in the 60's.

I am thinking that 350 degree trigger has already let anything in the car die before it goes off. Even if heat rises fast, inside a car I would need to see test data as to what the temp at seat level is when the roof is at 350 . Water boils at 212 degrees? How far is the officers head from the roof when sitting up ? 3 or 4 inch's maybe.
Sounds like a waste of money to me but if the guy who sells them would do a demo on how well it works when he is in the car I might change my mind.0
