    If you click the full article it says it's been around since ancient history, but still I sent them feedback with the screenshot explaining it's rather misleading.

    as per the bible ( I am no way a learned disciple just what I remember from sunday school ) but did not one brother sell the other into slavery (Kane and Able ? ) so it must have been profitable even then [:D]

    The Code of Hammurabi discussed slavery soon after 2242 BC (the date assigned by Archbishop Ussher to the Tower of Babel incident).

    Ham?s son Mizraim founded Egypt (still called Mizraim in Hebrew). Egypt was the first well-documented nation in the Bible to have harsh slavery, which was imposed on Joseph, the son of Israel, in 1728 BC (according to Archbishop Ussher). Later, the Egyptians were slave masters to the rest of the Israelites until Moses, by the hand of God, freed them.

    The Israelites were again enslaved by Assyrian and Babylonian captors about 1,000 years later.

    In any case, a long time before 1619.

    Cain slew Able, he didn't sell him. It was Joseph that was sold into slavery by his brothers. Note he was also falsely accused of attempted rape by his owner's wife.

    I did read the full article...the point is that people do use these for a quick answer. I initially started with "When did slavery begin", and added "in the world" after the original result wss Jamestown.

    They were working off the interest on the loan given to them by the pharaoh.

    They didn't actually receive any money but had to pay interest in the form of labor. Actually some paid for the honor of working on the temples.

    Interesting historical oddity - slavery in the US did not end with the war (civil) and the emancipation proclamation

    Research when slavery actually ended - especially on Indian reservations and Indian territory

    You will be surprised and wonder why Americans of African descent don't hate native Americans
