Booker releases secret Kavanaugh emails in defiance of Senate rules, drawing GOP condemnation
New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker injected chaos into Judge Brett Kavanaugh?s Supreme Court confirmation hearing Thursday by releasing confidential Kavanaugh emails with the backing of fellow Democrats in violation of Senate rules, calling it an act of ?civil disobedience? and drawing condemnation from the Republicans on the committee.
?I am going to release the e-mail about racial profiling and I understand that the penalty comes with potential ousting from the Senate,? Booker said at the beginning of the third day of Kavanaugh?s confirmation hearing.
After announcing plans to do so, Booker released 12 pages of emails -- which had been marked "committee confidential" -- online for the public to read. The emails included internal post-9/11 discussions surrounding issues of racial profiling.
The New Jersey Democrat said he would ?knowingly? violate the Senate rules to release the emails. Some of the other Democrats on the committee expressed their support for Booker's effort.
A day earlier, in a dramatic exchange, Booker implied Kavanaugh had been open to racial profiling tactics, citing an email exchange between Kavanaugh and a colleague. However, Booker did not provide Kavanaugh a copy of the emails to review while questioning him about it, prompting an objection from Sen. Mike Lee, who charged that it was inappropriate to "cross-examine" Kavanaugh about documents that he "can't see."
Booker said Thursday he would release it anyway, saying the document is a ?great illustration of the absurdity of the process? because there?s nothing in it that?s ?national security-related.?

Booker is a POS however he speaks clearly and is far more intelligent than someone like Maxine Waters.

OK Senator Booker here it is, YES racial profiling has a place, especially after 911 we were looking at taking a closer look at the type of people who were going to do damage to the US.
One step farther Racial profiling is fine with me, assuming a white guy in a black neighborhood is there to buy drugs or prostitutes is OK by me and assuming that we need a higher police presence in a high crime area regardless of color is fine too.
As for the constitutionality of providing benefit to "pay" for past racism. NO it is not constitutional and it should not be supported, Scalia was correct in the assertion that we are of one race regarding the eyes of the law.

In one of the emails Kavanaugh referenced a possible interim policy and wrote "the people (such as you and I) who generally favor effective security measures that are race-neutral DO need to grapple - and grapple now -- with the interim question of what to do before a truly effective and comprehensive race-neutral system is implemented."
I assume that Booker thinks this is a controversial statement on Kavanaugh's part, as this is taken from the 'racial profiling' email he released.
If one reads it, however, it seems Kavanaugh is an advocate for race-neutral security measures, but is simply pointing out that there is an issue such advocates must face prior to the development and implementation of such a race-neutral system.
It would be nice if Kavanaugh could ask this moron to explain how such a thoughtful approach is a problem.
I did like the line from I believe it was Grassley, pointing out that Booker's presidential aspirations were no excuse for violating the rules of the Senate.0 -
