    When an anti starts saying "compromise" to me, I say sure, let's start by repealing the NFA. Instead of adding legislation that doesn't prevent crime, let's repeal legislation that doesn't prevent crime.

    I have been doing a lot of thinking on this especially during GW Bush's funeral.

    I have been reading and hearing all the praise for him when in fact he did more to harm the 2a than just about any politician in my life(1959- ).

    Yeah he was a nice guy and did some good stuff but the bottom line is he was a progressive big government anti gun guy.


    I am disappointed in the NRA's past actions. As a life member I say "No Compromise" and I ensure the NRA know my feelings. I have come close to resigning my membership but unlike GW Bush I would do it if they compromise anymore.

    I could careless about a bump stock, hell I think they are stupid but I am 100% against any regulation on any gun related stuff.

    now ya'll can flame me for saying bad things about GWB[V]

    Yeah thanks for those laws that protect us.

    And lets not forget the other rules that save us, things like being able to have a AR pistol but not with a stock, because we all know someone using a brace is much safer.

    Or capacity restrictions that save us and force bad guys to fail by having to carry so many low capacity magazines that the police get there in time to prevent too many reloads.

    And thank the heavens for the laws restricting hearing friendly devices that would allow criminals to shoot us all without our knowing it.

    And without multiple background checks, ridiculous taxes and extensive waiting periods for those dangerous suppressors imagine people might have two or three!

    Whew it is so safe thanks to all of our laws that we can safely walk in any inner city neighborhood without any need to carry or have any fear.

    Compromise means both sides give up something, and both sides get something.

    The way it is used in the OP is "one side gives up just to keep what little they have left"

    An excellent point which highlights the stupidity of the position that incremental concession is compromise.

    I'd say a great compromise would be to get rid of existing legislation that doesn't save lives instead of passing more legislation that doesn't save lives.

    When you hear the word "compromise" used in any context related to the Second Amendment you can bet it means placing more restrictions on our rights and it's the same when you hear the words "common sense gun laws".

    In the 34 and 68 event it was political. Folks going to a hardware store to buy a thompson SMG and use it one the street to kill mob members or rob was unthinkable. Govt put a stop to that real quick. 68 same way. Mail order firearms with no regulation... no background checks and untraceable no serial numbers .. when the Kennedy's were killed all led up to it. Heck one could order a pistol or rifle from Herter's and have it delivered to the front door. Now the nonsense of the 34 Machine gun act.. only 1 and I repeat 1 person has used a full automatic that was legally registered illegal since 1934. A pretty damn good record of background working. BTW that was a Police Officer from Cincinnati that used the Mac 11 to kill a drug informant. Illegal guns can be made but forewarn all that if caught or used of the penalties. Govt cannot stop that. So when Uncle Sam says no to items that kill.. like bump stock legislation... there must be a damn good reason why... Look around.. and check other nations firearm laws. We still are at the top of the list. Flame away...
