Who Is Right Who Is Wrong
Yesterday i went to a ccw class to just sit in. Its been 12 or more years since i went. I can sit in for free but i kicked in 20 dollars because they feed you lunch and you shoot there guns.
My ? is i had the tightest group by almost half. The instructor said the best shooter was someone that was about a half second faster than me but the pattern was almost twice as big.
Im making my first shot count. Hitting him in the shoulder might not slow him down.
Faster or slower and accurate?

A shoulder hit with a .357 at close range, even through body armor, will pretty much take ya out too. (Ask me how I know!) 0 -
If you're talking about shooting to stop an attacker, the instructor is right. You want to get as much lead on the attacker as possible in the shortest time. In fact, tight groups may do less lethal damage than an even spread over the target. 0 -
The only experience i had was i got in a fight with someone on drugs and he kept getting up. I was like holy poop this guy is tough. I knocked him down at least 6 or 7 times.
When the cops got their they wrestled him for a few minuets or so before they could handcuff him. Thats when i found out about drugs.
I was 17 at the time and was into sports, kick boxing and racing go karts so i never did any drugs or hung out with anyone who did.
This guy could not feel anything.0 -
Two in the same hole really don't help. Two in the chest a half second sooner do. 0 -

I hear you, but at least they gave a reason that makes some good sense, which causes me to remember when I was in the Staff NCO Academy and in 2nd place just before graduation where the physical fitness test was the last exam. I came in first in the event which by points put me in first place. The next day the rankings were published and nothing had changed. When I inquired as to why, I was told they did not count the PFT results. Still, you did great, David!0 -
We have to count the shots so I ask my sharpshooter students to do me a favor and spread the shots around some.
I've heard that spreading them out a little gives more opportunity for vital shots but I suppose three center mass real close or three center mass spread out a little are all going to achieve about the same result.

When I shoot for CCW I usually spread them around a bit. Keeping them on a 8.5 X 11 inch target at three distances out to 21 feet is all that's required here. Makes it an easy count.
When in practice at one time it was always two in the chest. Then it went to 2 in the chest and one in the head. Of late I have found myself just practicing head shots. My carry gun is a .32 H&R Magnum. I shoot it well and think a head shot is the way to go. I used to carry something bigger but now in a wheel chair I have found it easier to carry a lighter smaller gun and still maintain quick access and concealability.0 -
The only shot that will put an attacker down immediately is a central nervous system shot. A center line head shot or shot that severs the spinal column. If you have a motivated attacker advancing then put the front sight center mass and pull the trigger until hopefully that attacker goes down. This is why dynamic training on move and shoot combat courses is critical. One needs to build their reflexive shooting skills, to competently put rounds on the bad guy with out thinking about it. Ask folks that have been in a gun fight and many will tell you that it was reflexive and they didn't fully process the event until it was over. Most deadly encounters are not going to be long protracted events like you see on TV, most will begin and end in an instant.
Training five yards and in, practice drawing and firing, both eyes open, front sight post shooting only. At five yards and less most shooters with a good stance, good grip, and good trigger control should be hitting center mass with little intentional aiming.0 -

So what about two in the chest in the same hole?
Two in the chest and one in the head always works.
