Driving I-10 East Home in New Mexico.. sign ahead said merge left and stop. Not many vehicles on road. Check point .. I get out drivers license. Officer asked if I am a US citizen. I reply..What? He laughs doesn't check drivers license and tells me to have a safe trip.

I -10 east till I-20. Flew out to El Paso and was picked up at airport to get my newer truck and drive home. New Mexico is not impressive. 0 -

I am on the same road. Just drove from El Paso to Dallas yesterday.
Headed to South Carolina.
Usually I drive up from Laredo and there is an inspection station there on I 35 nb at mm 30, all traffic must stop. And they just ask "Are you an American citizen?"
I have been through that check point about 400 times.
I want to respond "Yo soy Gringo!" I don't know if they have much of a sense of humor there.
