I am going to a Meadery
Wife and I are going to a Meadery today. I like Meade, if you have never had it give it a shot. The place we are going is the Honeygirl Meadery in Durham NC.
Meade is made from fermented Honey and water then a flavor is added like Blueberry or apple cider.
I plan on getting a few bottles and drinking as much as they will let me[;)]
It is a little spendy and kind of hard to find but well worth it.

Sweet mead is the original aphrodisiac. The origin of ??honeymoon?? harks back to the medieval tradition of drinking honey wine for a full moon cycle after a new marriage. All that golden essence would supposedly ensure a fruitful union bearing plenty of children. This mead-based insurance policy was taken so seriously that a bride??s father included a month??s worth of mead in her dowry.0 -

Not a huge fan, the lady where we went said it goes back so far the vikings even drank that stuff.

Sam06 - You forgot yeast. Without it you got honey water with fruit flavor without the booze [:D].
How much is spendy? My local in Santa Cruz "Chaucer's" $17 a bottle from BecMo. Used to go to their tasting room on Cannery Row but parking got worse and didn't see much of a discount buying cases. That was $11 or $12 a bottle ago. When they still used the rubber cork and now they're screw tops. Should've kept all those rubber corks.
Come to think of it Albertson's had them less at end of the Christmas season than the tasting room. That's another reason why I stopped going to the tasting room to buy. Bought that way for a few years until they stopped carrying them. Then went dry of the stuff for a few years until I saw BevMo carrying it.0 -

Yes, They carry it at Total Wine. Its not too bad and its only $15 a bottle.0 -

Just got back home and I am a little lit from drinking a bunch of meade.
I got a case of meade
Mango Habanero 3 bottles and Blueberry 3 bottles.
Very good stuff!
Went to a place to eat and I had Chicken fried steak, it was awesome!
They had hush puppys and I got a basket. When I got home the dogs got some hush puppys and they forgave me for leaving them alone[8D]
Good times!
