is the wankel still used anywhere?

just curious if its still used today or did it die a fast death?

  The Mazda wankel engine is still used in Formula racing, but 2012 was the last time it was put in one of their production street vehicles, the RX-8.

  The wankle/rotary engine has become very common in defense UAV?s.
  
  It is lightweight and can provide great flight time.
  
  The Shadow 200 with a rotary powered engine has amassed over 1,000,000 COMBAT flight hours.

  I remember the excitement about a Wankel type engine for ultra-light aircraft in the late 70s just before the entire industry crashed & burned thanks to the lawyers.

  The Wankle is an awesome idea that was killed because of emmission regulations by the EPA. It also had oil consumption issues until they hit upon the correct sealing methods. It runs smooth and has tons of torque.
  
  I would love to see a certified Wankle for aircraft. It has many fewer parts and tons less vibration.
