    If you are inquiring concerning the rear sight on the black powder rifle the rear screw is for elevation only.The other two screws are preventing it from moving left or right.quote:Originally posted by forgemonkey

    The browning A5 is just to nice and will end up being to pricey for a zombie apocalypse tactical combat conversion...

    But the end result modified piece done in the manner / pattern I have done 7 times now (3 for us and 3 for friends) would be so sweet...

    Though sourcing a side saddle - left side of the receiver spare shell carrier might prove to be a difficult exercise...

    And the selection / availability of different commercially available combat loads is probably small...

    But it would be fun and interesting when I was done with it.

    Douglas was considered one of the top ML barrel makers back in the time, with their XX stamped barrels being their best.
    Unfortunately Douglas used cold drawn 12L14 steel to get easy(?) flats, I'm told, cold drawn 12L14 can have hidden flaws. Some eejit dumped a double load down one that had flaws, blew most of his hand off, and sued Douglas. Don't know how it came out, but Douglas ceased making BP barrels. Still one of the top smokeless barrel folks though.
    If it's lasted this long, it should be good for a century it so.

    (I think chunk gun shoots are limited to patched round ball only, which should keep the pressures down anyway)?

    But that little Remington would fit nicely. I have a Ruger wood stocked M77 that is just like it. It would be a nice trade the Ruger has a Leupold[:)]

    I have always thought if I was gonna hunt deer or hogs I would choose the Rem model Seven in .308. They are sweet little rifles.
