Our bow season opened last Saturday. I had pulled muscles in my back, so I didn't go. All this week, I let it heal up, waiting for today. Get up this morning, and it is pouring. Weather was supposed to be cool and cloudy, no rain. I usually love to hunt in the rain, but as I get older, no dice. This afternoon , it is going to be sunny and a lot cooler. What really surprised me, is no one is in the woods all week. I usually see trucks on the side of the road or back in the woods. Took a drive back in the woods a few times this week, and not one truck. Tons of deer, just nobody hunting. My hunting buddy said it is like a ghost town back in the woods. He killed a nice 9 pointer yesterday. Less and less hunters every year for bow season. I guess it is a dying sport anymore. I'm going to hunt my buddies farm tonight. I strictly trophy hunt during bow season, until the last week,Then I will take a doe for the freezer. We don't shoot anything less than an eight pointer in our area. Let the little ones grow up to be nice mature bucks. Oak 0 -
our bow season is in here in AR but it is still in the 90's temperature wise just too hot to enjoy hunting right now 0 -
Good luck tonight Oakie.....I have been out a few times since the season opened here in MO two weeks ago. It has been way too warm most of the time. I have passed on some does and have only seen bucks at a distance. Last Thursday evening the weather changed and it was cool out. I saw lots of does with fawns, but no bucks. I had two young yotes within 15 yards but decided to pass on those also....
I know two folks that have arrowed nice bucks so far. i am looking forward to a change in the weather this week and hopefully I can get out there again...0 -
Open here in wis too, but I do the opposite. I let the bucks go for the kids, and shoot nice tender doe for the freezer. 0 -
Its 90 degrees here and the skeeters are really bad in the woods. Deer hunting would be miserable unless you were doing it from your porch. 0
