Ground Beef
My wife got a real good deal on ground beef. She got it for me because she doesn't eat beef(her loss).
I am going to make some SOS and Stroganoff with ground beef.
I really like stroganoff with ground beef here is how I make it:
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon butter
1 onion, diced
2 teaspoons minced garlic
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup beef broth
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
3/4 teaspoon prepared mustard
1/4 cup light sour cream
1/4 cup light cream cheese, softened
Directions
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Crumble ground beef into the hot skillet; season with salt and pepper. Cook and stir beef until completely browned, 7 to 10 minutes. Drain and discard any excess grease. Transfer beef to a bowl.
Melt butter in the skillet over medium heat. Cook and stir onion and garlic in hot butter until softened, 3 to 5 minutes. Stir flour into onion mixture; cook and stir until flour is browned, about 1 minute. Return beef to the skillet; stir. Pour beef broth over the mixture in the skillet; bring to a boil. Stir Worcestershire sauce and mustard through the mixture.
Place a cover on the skillet, reduce heat to medium-low, and cook mixture at a simmer until the consistency is gravy-like, about 1 hour.
Stir sour cream and cream cheese through the beef mixture to serve.
I like it served over egg noodles(The no yolk style)

Thanks for your recipe Sam! I will certainly be giving it a try!
Along with over noodles, I enjoy this kind of stuff over mashed potato's![:p]0 -
Hashbrowns too! 0 -
If ya have any left over Sam I can stop down in a day or two. Sounds damn tasty! 0 -
I fry it up in a skillet with a bit of sage and garlic salt and then dump it over buttered egg noodles.
This works with good quality ground beef. The sketchy stuff needs to be smothered in something.0 -
Your welcome any time Chris.
Update!
The SOS is done and I ate some for a late lunch, only problem was no White Bread so I toasted WW bread, A little dry but it was still good. 2 eggs over easy, plenty of pepper and a shot or 4 of Texas Pete.......yummmmm
I added some seasoning to mine; Garlic powder, Onion Powder and Cayenne pepper about a teaspoon each estimated. That kicked it up a notch.
Saved some of the grease and a little burger for the Pups!
Now to the Stroganoff[:p]0 -
But I prefer my stroganoff with hamburger.... 0 -
Ok just cleaned up from the SOS. Got all of it out of the pan and I put the now cool pan on the floor for my 2 pot washers to take care of.

Stainless steel 4 qt pot is shining after 2 Golden Retrievers finished licking it. I could literally put it back in the cupboard[:D]
But I am going to wash it good with soap and hot water before I cook the Stroganoff.
If my wife, her Sisters family and other she has invited to eat here knew what I do they would freak out[:D]
One time I was smoking a turkey and I didn't lock the smokers door. One of my dogs was licking and eating the turkey right in the smoker.
I sliced off a piece where he ate and told them I was just checking that it was done[:0]
Another time I was grilling Hot dogs. Both my Dogs were right there by the grill and I dropped a Hotdog that was cooking............
Jack my big dog snatched it up before I could get it away, he didn't bite or anything just swallowed it whole.
About 10 sec later he gets this crazy look on his face and chucks it right up. That thing was so hot it must have been like swallowing a hot coal. I couldn't help laughing my ass off.
and no I didn't put it back on the grill and feed it to my SisIL[;)]0
