Back from the show with a new Colt. I was wheelin' 'n dealin' like nobody's business. When the dust settled I had sold an RIA 38 Super to a buddy, a Colt Cobra to a stranger, and came home with a new Colt Gov't Model 45.

Been 45 years since I bought a new Colt 1911. Stocks were different. No emblems. Barrel looks stainless? Has a flat main spring housing like the Gold Cups used to have. Has a longer trigger in alloy with holes in it. Sides of hammer blued rather than polished. Taller sights with three dots. Still pretty familiar looking and feeling. All the controls are stiff...likely from being new. Should break in, some.

Took off the pretty checkered wood stocks and put on an old set of ivories a buddy gave me for my BD a couple decades ago. Same guy who bought the Super, in fact. So far I like it. Anxious to try it out. Haven't loaded any 45 ACP ammo in a long time. Will have to start again.

    Damn, I had forgotten how heavy a full size 1911 with a steel frame is. Past few years I have been dealing only with compact and lightweight pistols. How does anybody carry one of these cement trucks?

    You have to have a good holster and belt.
