Cougar Killed a Woman in Oregon.

A medical examiner said Tuesday 55-year-old Diana Bober's body had injuries consistent with an attack by a cougar.

DNA samples are being flown by the Oregon State Police to a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service laboratory in Ashland for further analysis.

Bober's body was found Monday in the Mount Hood National Forest in Welches, about 40 miles southeast of Portland.

She was reported missing Sept. 7. Her car was later found at the Zigzag Ranger Station several miles away.

Bober, of Gresham, was an avid hiker who often trekked in the Mount Hood and Columbia River Gorge areas.

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office says a woman's body found near Mount Hood is that of missing hiker Diana Bober.

The 55-year-old avid hiker from Gresham was last seen by her family Aug. 29.

Her car was found at the Zigzag Ranger Station about 17 miles east of Sandy.

Bober's body was found several miles away from the same ranger station off the Hunchback Trail near Welches.

Bober often hiked in the Mount Hood and Columbia River Gorge area.

    We all knew this was coming, the only surprise to me is that it wasn't a kid. As the deer populations keep going down I imagine we may see more of this.

    The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office says a Corbett man shot and killed two cougars that were near a chicken coop.

    Sgt. Brandon White says Oregon State Police and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife have been notified, but he doesn't anticipate any charges because the man was defending livestock.

    The shooter, David Callister, tells KGW-TV he was walking to the trailer where he stays early Tuesday when he almost stepped on the tail of a cougar that was under his pickup. The cougar displayed no fear.

    He returned with a rifle and found a cougar starting to tear into the coop.

    Callister says he fired warning shots before killing the cougars.

    Ya-Ill. was hit with this "blue tongue". Dry areas deer crowd water holes and nates bite and spread the disease. Always something out there. It's not contagious from animal to animal or to humans. Maybe just another population control thing! Heard there are more deer killed on Wisc. highways in a year than there were in their entire population at the turn of the last century[:0]

    Indeed. And as the wolf populations rise and their "kill for sport" goes unchecked because "hey, see how cute and furry they are?" infests the lunatic left, the cougars and other predators are left with less and less natural prey.

    Cougar attacks have been reported as far back as the 1800s.

    old cougars will attack human beings when they're too old to hunt there regular pray. It's been going on for thousands of years

    Heard today they're going in with hounds to hunt down and eliminate the cat responsible for the hiker's death.
    However, heavy rainfall in the area has likely washed away any scent, so they'll kill every cat they can until they have a positive DNA match.
    Hate to see innocent cats eliminated, but how many cougars do you need in Welches?

    Oh I read the title and thought it was about some middle aged, nicely dressed ladies having a bar fight over a younger fella.

    Any how, like PS3 indicated, when you?re going to be in an area where cougars are know to be, you should always carry protection!

    True but they're rarely dangerous. It's usually the cougar's husbands that get violent. [}:)][}:)][:D][;)]

    Well they checked the DNA of the one they killed.

    They are not sure if they got the right one.

    No other cougars have been seen on the 31 trail cameras in the area over the past week, ODFW said.
