Been working on my reloading room
I have been going through stuff and I have come to several conclusions;
1. I don't need anymore 22LR maybe ever.
2. Its going to be long time before I need to buy primers or powder.
3. I need to get rid of some reloading equipment especially dies I don't have guns for anymore
4. I have brass for guns I no longer have, and I mean a lot of brass.
I think I will be putting stuff up for sale here soon.
I think I let it get a little carried away the last 15 years or so.
Anyone else have that happen???

Sam, I think we wake up one day and realize ?it just happened somehow?. Reloading isn?t my thing, yet I have baskets full of brass. Ammo, let?s just say, lol, well, thinking on the subject, let?s don't. Hell, I caught myself looking in the safe a few weeks back and, this is blasphemy I know, thinking I just may have enough guns. Damnit, what?s this world coming to?
What?s next? Am I gonna find myself thinning out the safe one day and making a run south with a load for Ricci to put out for bids?0 -

I had an Epiphany a few months ago. I think it has a lot to do with my Dad. He has tons of crap in a huge house. I have been asking him to get rid of stuff and he has been blowing me off. Now he has Dementia and lives in a ALF and I am stuck cleaning up the mess.
I don't want that for my wife. So I have been thinning the heard so to speak.
I don't hunt anymore so I am getting rid of my hunting guns.
Now I have a heap of reloading stuff I don't really need.
But the ammo...............I think I went a little crazy especially in military calibers.
I also have about 2-3 tons of lead in the garage for casting bullets[:p]0 -
I'm not certain exactly when/where my hunting days went by the wayside, but it seems as if it was gradual and coincided with career related activities. As they ramped up exponentially, well, you know all too well...think Hemingway's quote regarding the "Most Dangerous Game". I found myself mainly just "...taking the guns for a walk", honing stalking skills, observing, then hiking back to the house leaving the woods and wildlife as I found it. I certainly support and encourage those that still hunt, but my desire for same has waned.
As I look over the safe inventory, the question of what I can truly utilize comes to mind. My thoughts go to what I can realistically use/carry (mainly "work" guns) also accounting for backup items and that which I could outfit one or two others with in a time of need.
I have no offspring and much of what I have acquired is not transferrable to others here in the People's Republic.
The ammo inventory, as with yours, is primarily that of calibers matching my work guns and would truly suffice to supply an operational team for some time.
My dad at 89 is still quite active and working, but that cannot last forever. As with you, I'm facing some significant hurdles there as he will not plan or manage that which he has worked like a dog and built up over a lifetime. I understand where he is coming from to a degree but also realize my work is truly cut out for me as his standard response, since he will not even discuss what needs done, is "...you'll handle it". I do not want to put those who come after me in that position.

Yep hunting really doesn't hold any thrill for me. I used to live for it.
I have a friend who's kid(Now in college)love to Duck hunt. I gave him all my duck hunting stuff, Blind, decoys, small plastic duck punt and 3 cases of Steel shot(I kept 2 just in case[;)]) and a Remington 1100 12ga Magnum 28" with screw in chokes.
I don't have kids either. My Brother does but I haven't talked to him in years(His choice). I have nephews and I gave each a 22 SS that I taught them to shoot with.
Now I guess I need to get all my Deer hunting crap and get rid of it. I have a few climbing stands and some lock ons along with a ladder stand. I don't need any of it. If I wanted to kill deer all I would have to do is shoot them off my deck with a 22 mag.
I just see the accumulation of all the stuff I thought meant something only to find out its just a bunch of stuff.

Plus I like to shoot in several types of matches(3 Gun and LR) so I am keeping the guns needed for that.
Last night I found a Big tupperware box with about 30 magazines in it. Glock, 1911, BHP, 442 and a S&W I no longer have.
I also found 4 SR-25 Mags and 5 M9 mags I must have failed to turn in when I rotated out of Afghanistan[B)]0 -
As stated in a previous post I am 78.I realize that most of what I used to love has passed me by.3 little Brittanys all in secession,the last one passed and I have no desire to kill anymore birds/ducks/geese.
Three years ago I sent a large part of my "stuff" to a well known firearms auction house.
One month ago I met Kasey and got rid of the stragglers.
I passed one to one of my sons,and kept a couple for ??????
Any way my wife will not have to be bothered with any of this.
Strangely, I am perfectly at peace with the decision.

I have more .22, 5.56, 8 MM, 5.45x39 and 7.62x54R ammo than I could possibly use up in my remaining lifetime.
I still have several sleeves of 5000 white-box Winchester primers (all types) that I paid $50-$55 per 5000 in the early 1990s.
I still have "much" Hercules powder in the old cardboard containers, including 8# kegs purchased in early 1990s, and IMR powders in the old tin containers. Plus "much" later-purchased powders & primers. All properly stored and still in use.
I have so many projectiles I had to rebuild my shelves to support the weight. Brass? Don't get me started on brass...there is sooo much!
I won't need to buy anything in the foreseeable future.0 -

In the garage today found a case of 16ga in a 20mm can. Only problem is I don't have a 16ga anymore.
I also found 3K more 22lr[:0] in a 5.56 ammo can. All old federal CMP ammo.

I think there are about 40 so far.
Some are crappy nylon jobs but I have few Milt Sparks, 3 very early Greg Krammer holster I got from him when he was making them in his Garage.
A few hunter holsters for SA revolvers.
3 or 4 Pancake holsters made by that guy in AK for N and l Frame S&W
A few shoulder holsters made by Ken Null one for a M38 S&W the other for my Detonics Combat master. These are 80's when I rode a Motocycle(75 Norton 750 Commando).
Some Alessi holsters for a 1911 on IWB the other a Shoulder holster.
A bunch of holsters for 1911's, Drop leg, Hip Cross drew a lot of them were bought by my old unit got tested and I kept them[;)]
Some cool mag pouches for a 1911.
A bunch of kydex for Glocks IWB and OWB style.
I am going to go through them and put some up for sale.
I just got done working on a High Standard Military I was going to sell. I think I will keep it now after shooting it. I put 5 mags of that old CMP ammo through it and it ran like a top. Very smooth and accurate.0 -
