Question about Franchi 48 AL.
Several months ago I bought this Franchi over on the auction side. It is a 28 gauge, bought to teach a few grandkids how to shoot shotguns. I couldn't think of a shotgun with a lighter potential recoil than an auto in a 28 gauge. Pick the Franchi up at my FFL's, examine it, looks just fine, not perfect but just like a gun that has been used but not abused. My grandkids finally were down for a visit so out comes the 28 gauge and off we go to have fun.
Of course there is a problem. This Franchi don't like to eject after firing, maybe failing to eject 50% of the time. The original goal of a low recoiling shotgun was nicely met but the failure to eject was a downer for the kids.
My thought is the ejector needs replaced. Any other possibilities?? The obvious solution is head for a gunsmith but I'm not real enthusiastic about anyone local and I don't want to ship it. Does anyone know if this is a relative easy replacement once I obtain the part??

How about a good cleaning and lubrication.
Also, were you shooting real light loads? Maybe try field loads.....

Franchi is usually the most reliable of shotguns (ie Browning A5).
There is a friction ring,make sure it is facing the correct way.

I will try a good cleaning but it does not appear dirty. I thought I lubed it up pretty good but who knows? I agree it is at most an ejector maybe something much less. 0 -

Who told you they were light recoiling?
The county boys around shot light loads and the guns didn't work. They would trade them to me for Mossberg pumps.
They work like A-5's. Play with the rings or use more powerful shells. The gun will work then.0 -
The Browning long recoil system used a friction ring to operate with heavy or light loads. There is plenty of information on the internet on how to set it up. There may be instruction on the inside of the forend like there was on the Remington Model 11. It is a simple concept: friction with heavy loads, no friction with light loads. 0 -
Having owned several, I am willing to bet you need a heavier load. I had 0 problems and no breakage with the dozen or more I have owned. They shoot and shoot. 0 -
