    I-1639 is yet another anti-liberty initiative supported by Paul Allen and other idiots to keep freedom in check and limit the rights of individuals.

    1. It prohibits sales of semi-auto firearms to anyone under 21 years of age.

    2. It imposes increased background checks, including:
    A. 10 business day waiting period for the purchase of a semi-auto firearm.
    B. Letter from Chief of Police or County Sherriff to dealers that person buying is legal to buy before firearm is transferred.

    3. $ 25.00 fee to buy a firearm.

    4. Storage requirements - effectively if you own a firearm it must be under your direct control or in a safe. If accessible (legally or illegally) by a prohibited person, you are subject to prosecution. IE, if someone breaks into your bedroom while you are in the bathroom and grabs you bedside gun, you are subject to prosecution for giving him access to the gun, and obviously then, anything he does with it.

    The semi-auto ban directly contradicts Section 24 of the Washington State Constitution.


    SECTION 24 RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS. The right of the individual citizen to bear arms in defense of himself, or the state, shall not be impaired, but nothing in this section shall be construed as authorizing individuals or corporations to organize, maintain or employ an armed body of men.

    I would think a 19 year-old who cannot buy a semi-auto firearm has had his right to bear arms in defense of self impaired.

    That said, the leftist idiots in this crap-hole state have no use for limitations upon government imposed by the state or the US Constitution.

    damn shame you can sign up and join the military to defend your country and maybe DIE before you can buy a firearm to defend youself or your home.....younger voters need to send these elected IDIOTS on a pay your own way VACATION

    INTIATIVE 1640....if 1639 is passed then ALL citizens age 18 to 21 are exempted from military service till age 21 when it is deemed they are old enuff to handle firearms.....

    Not one Law Enforcement agency in Washington State supports this initiative. That should tell you how bad it is. It also forces you to give up your medical privacy. Hopefully this stupid thing doesn?t pass.

    We have a process to change the Constitution but it isn't local, Mob rule, or legislators. Simply get 3/4 of Congress to pass it and then get 38 of 50 states to ratify it.

    Otherwise they have no ability to change it.

    I have ceased to hope against the stupidity of the voters in Washington State.

    Except for the Tri-Cities, there seems to be no common sense in any of the population centers of this state. We will know they too have fallen when Richland High School athletic teams succumb to the PC idiots and are no longer the Richland Bombers.
