Crab Cakes
For years, while still employed, I frequented the Maryland sea shore and got hooked on Crab Cakes.
I recently ordered some at a local eatery that said they specialized in Maryland Crab Cakes... What a big disappointment...they were gummy and tasteless.
Does anyone here have a good recipe for Maryland Crab Cakes?

So long as there is only enough bread to hold the cake together.
Seems a lot of crab cakes one gets today are better described as crab flavored bread cakes.0 -

Actually, I can drive there any time I want and for $20 or $30 (depending on whether I want 1 or 2) I can have the crabcake(s), a couple of sides and some cold drinks. If you are too far away to drive then you have to pay the online price. OP stated that he ordered online and wasn't happy with what he received. I'm pointing out that these are the best around and can be ordered online.0 -
no offense, but I can buy crab meat and make my own A LOT cheaper 0 -
Jumbo lump blue crab meat, mayo, ground mustard, worcestershire sauce, Old Bay, beaten egg, bread crumbs, parsley.
Cheapest fresh crab meat in Maryland is $30/lb (at Costco), others charge up to $40. Avoid pasteurized crab meat from Malaysia.
I haven't been to G&M since the shootout in the carry out; they had 1 crab cake left, but 2 customers argued over who should get it. One shot the other to death, the winner got to go to prison.

G&M's crabcakes are really, really good...though, as Neal said, now days ya gotta wear your body armor. 0 -
I had no idea hey were so expensive or good ? [:0] when we visited the south east cost we would catch blue crabs for the fun of it and just give them away to any other local wanting them . I have never even tried one even at the local fresh sea side eateries while visiting . 0 -
I buy my crab from a small guy on 13 in S.Delaware HUGE lump crab.
$25 a pound - you can't beat fresh.
#1 rule on crab cakes DO NOT BREAK THE LUMP.
Crab Cakes that are like a pile of fried mashed potatoes SUCK.
Hey Chris - is this one still good? I haven't been in years but promised my son a trip to the B+O museum with a side of crab cakes.

Faidley had great crabcakes. But, I believe I read a month or so ago that they were closing.
Pappas is supposed to be great, too.

Faidley's should still be there, for now anyway, they answered the phone when I called. They're in the filthy assed Lexington Mkt. which was closed down a month or so back for rat infestation based on a televised report complete with video. The rats are nothing new anywhere in Balto, nor will a one day shut down do much about them. Those around the markets are infamous for being WAY oversized. That being said, the few times I was at their stall in the Market, the place was very clean and the crab cakes excellent.
The B&O is still up and running, very good stop for a day trip. As you enter, please take a moment to stop at the plaque memorializing our Flight Officer Barry Wood who died in a helicopter crash at the entrance to the museum. Barry sacrificed himself to save his observer and best friend on that dark day. Watch your back in those neighborhoods and don't leave anything visible in your car. Unfortunately the museum and markets are right in the heart of "Indian Country"...no offense meant to the "Real Native Americans".0 -
I will Chris - I Promise. Late Oct scheduled after OC Md
Good bless and RIP for your fellow Officer.
Indian country 10-4 I remember from yrs ago.

Thanks Mychael, Barry's saga, well, it's one hell of a story about one hell of a man. Aviation was attached to SOD and supported us regularly. He was one of the few I'd fly with. Helping pry him out of that aircraft is a nightmare that never goes away. Those former VN, multi-tour, pilots were unbelievable.
Anyway, OC for Bike Week?0 -
Most place do not use crab but this.
