    I really liked that Mossberg. It is over what I wanted to pay but very nice looking gun.

    I really thought the Husky would get more action, those are really nice well built and accurate rifles.

    Much better than most of the crap out today.

    Sure Sam I can find a .50 round here for you.[:)] As a matter of fact I have some bright shiny match rounds that Ryan McMillan left here. He flew in to do a TV shoot, something about shooting a block of ice at a mile I think. Anyway he left his rifle and some ammo here for me to shoot. quote:Originally posted by Sam06

    What did you put on the wood to bring out the grain? It looks so much better than when I dropped it off.

    I have my Father-in-law's Savage 170 in 30-30. With the right ammo, it is one of the most accurate relatively inexpensive rifles I have at 100 yards. It favors 170 grain bullets. He bought it in about 1976, I think, maybe earlier.

    They are good guns. That one liked 170 gr bullets too. I had a old Weaver 2-7X scope with a post/crosshair ret.

    I shot a few Black Bears with it over bait. My Dad liked too he carried it AK when we used to fishing up there. My Dad was recoil sensitive due to getting a Bayonet stuck in his shoulder in Korea(He was a corpsman for the Marines).

    So that was his Bear gun(I carried a 1895 Marlin 45-70)

    My only complaint with the 170 is the trigger is not all that great and the forearm rattles some. But other than that they are smooth shooting guns.
