Fifty-six major companies, including Uber and IBM Corporation, signed onto the statement denouncing the Trump administration's proposed gender definition change.
Together, the companies represent $2.4 trillion in revenue, according to a press release.
"We, the undersigned businesses, stand with the millions of people in America who identify as transgender, gender non-binary, or intersex, and call for all such people to be treated with the respect and dignity everyone deserves," the statement begins.

Right now, it is illegal in almost all cases to discriminate based upon sex.
While there may be an outlier or two, I do not see where the Federal Government has any reason to step in and create 40+ different sexual identities. If there are specific areas where a Federal definition is necessary, there is nothing wrong with using genetic (birth) data for that determination.
Likewise there is nothing discriminatory, disrespectful or undignified when, on those rare occasions someone is referred to by their genetic sex.
Also, there is nothing stopping these companies from treating sexually altered or confused people with all the dignity and respect they wish.
This is a tempest in a tea-pot and should be ignored as such.0 -

I can claim to to black, native american , white any race I deem I feel I am neutral gender , do not have to check or state what sex . age , race , weight , height, on any form rearguard-less of government or other wise , just a new category . human ( for now until I can say I am some dog or cat ) and that will be the new rule of the land

Transgender people are about 2/10th of 1% of the population. That figure is from huge sexuality studies.
happy people are about 4%
On TV happy people are 8%. I'm not sure about trans people on TV0 -

If this becomes the standard- and if there are 40 sexes (genders) it should get interesting watching an employer try to comply with the OSHA standards on bathrooms.

Meaning after the elections depending on whether or not ?the blue wave? materializes a Congressman or Senator might or might not write it up in form a bill and get it passed the House of Representatives and the Senate and signed by the President after which they will successfully shepherd it through a series of Supreme Court battles.

I think the US Navy new aircraft carrier has already done some of this work. No urinals just toilets.
