Anyone ever Visit the Alamo?

It's much smaller than you may think. I lived in El Paso back in the mid-late 60's.

Currently watching a Biography on Davy Crockett.

The Museum is very interesting. (I LOVE Museums.)

The best is Gettysburg.

    Many locations seen in TV shows and movies are much smaller than they appear. Grand Central Station in NYC isn't anywhere nearly as big as it looks on screen. Dealy Plaza in Dallas is really confined.

    I've been there several times, the last time was in 2017 (On my 50'th birthday). Our family has history there, as my great-great-great grandfather William Tom and his son John Files Tom (My great-great grandfather) both fought at Concepcion, the Grass Fight, the Seige of Bexar, and both left the Alamo about 7 days before the buildings were surrounded by Santa Anna's army. Both fought in the final battle for Texas' Independence at San Jacinto, where John Files Tom was wounded.

    He was a feisty little cuss, who went on to become the elected Sheriff of Guadalupe County, then moved to Atascosa County where he was commissioned a Captain and raised a troop of Texas Rangers to fight raiding Comanches, and served in the legislature where he was part of a holding action in the state house during an attempted coup involving the outgoing governor and the governor-elect.

    His youngest son Vesta Tom married my Great Grandmother and the rest is history....
