Well that's disappointing...

Not really shopping these days but I was perusing the auctions a bit. I saw several large volume dealers with "We don't ship to C&R" in the auction notes. I guess they don't want to mess with shipping to guys who can't use USPS for handguns or maybe don't want to deal with determining the age of the guns. I dunno. Seems like you would lose a few bidders but I guess they know what they are doing.

    I live nowhere near a FedEx or UPS site. My only shipping option is USPS. While I may miss a sale or two, I can't drive 30-40 miles to ship... So, Usps and no C&R.

    It is my understanding that a FFL can mail a handgun to a C&R holder.

    I received several like that when I held a license.


    Nunn will not send to a C&R because brown and fuddex will pick up, and it is many miles to a PO to mail them. Reasonable I think, if not ideal.

    You can send a C&R gun fed x and ups as well. I get an adult signature on all guns.

    I have tried to buy C&R guns from a couple different dealers that refused to ship to my C&R license.

    Even after I quoted the law.
    Even after I asked them to call ATF and ask.

    I'm convinced some people insist in shooting themselves in the foot because they just aren't all that smart. [;)] (I'm being nice)

    I wouldn't want a gun from a seller that's to stupid to know what a C&R License is or one that's to arrogant to make a sell to a C&R license holder. Piss on'em! There's plenty of guns out there without them.

    Ricci- No, C&R cannot send or receive handguns via USPS. Yes, it happens but it is illegal.

    I have run into this several times. I always ask before I bid if its not specifically stated in the auction. Sometimes I get the "No C&R" response. I just move on.

    C&R holders are neither "manufacturers" nor "bona fine dealers." So, no, you cannot ship to a C&R via USPS.

    True, some FFLs will, but they're either unaware, or aware and don't care...

    And I'd rather lose a sale than a license...

    Have held a C&R since 1976. Regrettably, we CANNOT send or receive a handgun by US Mail. While we ARE licensees, we are NOT dealers or manufacturers. Yes, I have researched it. Couple of times.


    There are dealers that will not ship a "no question it IS C&R" gun to a C&R FFL holder. Have met some dealers that would not do a face-to-face sale to a C&R holder- because they did not know what a C&R FFL WAS.


    Have (politely) explained it to some. Some don't want to know. Their business, their choice. My money, MY choice.

    If I ship a handgun to an ffl dealer USPS I charge $25, the same gun shipped to a C & R via UPS or Fedex is $80-100. When I tell C & R holders I will ship at that cost they never bid.

    I just went thru my FFL audit, asked the question of dealing with a c & r lic. There answer is it is a legal lic. There is a way to check if a FFL 01 is current but not a c&r. ATF is working on that. Seams that is why some dealers due not want to go that route. I deal heavily with c&r lic holders,both at home an at gun shows. Would say 60% of my business. Think there is more education needed. IMOP
