Recent Computer Problem

My Toshiba laptop will no longer communicate (through USB ports) with my Panasonic camera.

I am not very computer savvy, and cannot find what has caused this very important function to be lost. I have tried to get my pictures to upload using both the direct camera to computer cable through each of the 4 ports, as well as the USB camera card direct into its port with no results!

The LUMIX camera shows "CONNECTING TO PC" in the USB mode, but will not complete the connection. This is a very recent breakdown, as it was and has been working fine for years until just a couple of weeks ago.

Any help or ideas with this are very much appreciated! Joel

    I am a long ,long way from a helper on computer issues but I have re-downloaded programs for my camera in the past to allow it to work again with the computer

    Thanks for the idea D\R, I did that just this morning. I put in the hard disc that came with the camera and reinstalled all of the programing.

    Still a no go on getting my pictures to upload into computer.[V]

    I assume this is Win. Go to Control Center, Hardware, and Devices. See if the camera is recognized, and if so, run the troubleshooting.

    Does anything else work in that USB port? If not, it could be the port itself.

    Does any other SD card/memory device work in the USB? If so, you may have a bad camera card.

    Thanks Rocky, the card works in my wife's laptop. My Windows 10 set up computer has 4 USB ports along with one direct port for a USB memory card. None seem to be working for my camera plugged into the computer.

    There are two possibilities, obviously. It's either the laptop or the camera. Plugging the camera into another 'pooter, and plugging something else into yours will tell you which is at fault.

    I would like to thank each and everyone for their help with this problem![:)]

    As it turned out, Flying Clay Disk's #2 suggestion about checking the cable is what has helped to solve my issue!

    After I pinched the cable into a coil at the round thingy while everything was connected, the camera indicated it had made access to the computer. Then the computers program kicked in and my pictures were uploaded!![:D]

    There is some kind of short in the cable and I will replace it in the very near future. In the meantime, playing with the old one will get me by in a pinch.[:)]

    I was pretty frustrated and had thoughts of just using my old PC and camera for target practice! But a one pound ball peen would have helped to alleviate the symptoms of madness![:D]
