Are u a meat hunter

At my Mt. home I get many flying visitors
I get this one, only one turkey and he is big
He is so big I don?t think he will fit in my broiler pot.
I will not shoot him unless all of him minus the head and feet fit?s in my pot.

I can not get close for a pic

There are many after him, hawks, an eagle and a mile away meat hunter neighbor.

I caught the neighbor on my property and gave him a
warning.

I sort of like this bird, he seems to be loner and very cautious
I may only shoot him with my camera

    If I get close to the window he?ll fly
    Shooting 5 feet away from the window through a screen

    leave a window or door open so when he comes you can shoot him, he will fit right in the roaster pan.

    Keep a little pile of yellow corn out for him. He'll become a regular visitor.

    Not sure what State you live in Wallie, but most turkey seasons are over with for now, and won?t start till early Spring.

    That being said, I have hunted these birds for many years, and have spent a lot of time chasing them around my woods.

    For the most part unless it is a young Jake bird, or a hen, the only meat we usually retain on a large Tom is the breast meat. A wild turkey isn?t like a Butter Ball you buy at the store. They use their wings & legs to run & fly with. Most of it after they reach an older age is a pretty tough muscle meat.

    On younger birds I have put the legs & wings in a crock pot & cooked the meat down off the bone. It can be done with bigger birds too, but what you have left is soup stock, and not worth much more.

    Build your self a big mouse trap for him...[;)]

    Here in Virginia coyotes are giving wild turkeys and quail hell (ground nesting birds). They have already destroyed the whippoorwills.

    Leave him to strut for the ladies and make baby turkeys. At his age the term "tough old bird" is accurate.

    That?s a big hen wallie. Leave her alone and you will have lots of little turkeys soon running around your place.. In most states it?s illegal to shoot hens .
