    ejector grabs after the round has broke the upward/curved plain,past the feed ramp,and has entered the chamber,,,not exactly control feed

    While I never gave much thought as to which S/A pistols are Control Feed and which S/A pistols are push feed.

    Most "experts" say that the M1911A1 and similar designs are in fact Control Feed actions and the more modern designs may or may not be Control Feed designs. In any case it has never been a concern of mine since I have always had love affair with 1911s.

    BUT...I did come across some comments that makes me think that myself and others may be prepping our 1911s for Condition One Carry wrong and contributing to unnecessary wear on the extractor.

    "The only real difference is that a 1911 with an internal extractor can be damaged while loading single rounds with no magazine. That is a negative for 1911's, not a plus."

    I think it might be proper and safer to load the first round with the magazine in place, applying the safety, and then adding the "8th" round to the magazine...avoiding damage to the extractor.

    And what about bolt action pistols like the anshutz exemplar or the Remington XP-100...

    Or the gyrojet pistol which has no extraction phase (or other caseless ammo handguns)...

    Only one I can think of is the Nagant Model 1895. Cams the cylinder forward to seal the gap. That is control, even if unnecessary.
