Some refiners and older car engines, however, may pay the price.
Trump announced a directive Tuesday that would allow the year-round sale of gasoline with up to 15% ethanol, also know as E15. That would include the use of the blend even during the summer driving season. Its use in the summer months is currently banned as it can produce more smog.
?You can approve this all day long, but Americans don?t necessarily want it,? said Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analysis at fuel price tracker GasBuddy.
It would help to push corn prices higher and benefit farmers, and it may even help to lower prices for gasoline, but it would hurt refiners who don?t have the ability to blend ethanol?and there are also concerns about the impact of E15 in car engines, especially those made before 2001, he said.

More and more gas stations in Boise are offering alcohol free gas.
A couple of years ago there were only a couple of stations offering alcohol free gas, now there is one every couple of blocks.0 -
does it help if you run a dose of stabil or marvel mystery oil in this alcohol fuel???? i run a good dose in 23 hp lawn mower and with 600+ hours it runs great 0 -
The marine Stabil supposedly minimizes the hydroscopic effect of the ethanol, but the standard Stabil only stabilizes the gasoline portion of the fuel.
I run non-ethanol fuel in the boat with the Marine Stabil. For the vehicles, we use whatever blend is in the pump, though in the 56 T-bird I do add the regular Stabil as the car does not get used much during the winter.0 -
Ethanol only has 50% of the BTUs that mil+spec gasoline has.
Less miles per gallon. Also will screw up the carbs on mowers etc.
Its a solvent so go figure results on a engine.
I have heard that two univercites found it produces more polution.
Can't verify that, but it sticks in my mind. Mil-spec gas gives me
1.5 to 2.5 mpg. Engine seems to run better. IMO0 -

Not only is it hard to find around here, the over pricing of a buck+ more a gallon is highway robbery!

Don't like it don't use it, it really is that simple.
Don't complain that non ethanol gas costs more...it is simply that the ethanol in gas is cheaper. Not the other way around, think about that statement for a second.
I run/ran ethanol in every vehicle I've owned model years 1995-2016 and never had a single problem of any kind. I run regular non ethanol in all small equipment, motorcycles, boat, etc.
I swear the way some people are reacting to this they think Donald Trump and corn farmers are sneaking into their garages to gum up the carburetors on their 1986 lawn boy.[:D]0 -
Easy to say "don't use it" but in a year or two, ALL the pumps are flowing with E15!
Right now, I have to drive 80 miles round trip to buy non-ethanol gas.
I remember not so long ago that most pumps were non ethanal with a few that had to be labeled (by law) contains ethanal and the percentage thereof!
We must realize that these political happenings going on today make changes at our pumps tomorrow! [:(!]0 -
I used it in my Truck(2000) and Jeep(1994). Jeep I need to replace the Fuel pump now. Truck will not run very well on the 15.

We don't have E15...about an hour west does, but haven't seen it in my area. My ecoboost will run it...but i cycle so much PURE gas through my truck that I run lower than 10% ethanol. 0 -

True enough, but most places that sell ethanol blended gas usually run at 10% or less....some places sell up to E-85 gas.
What they are talking about is that all the places that are selling E-10 right now (10% ethanol) would start selling nothing but E-15...which is even worse and most vehicles on the roads today (INCLUDING MOST COMING OFF THE ASSEMBLY LINE RIGHT NOW) are not supposed to run anything more than E-10.0
