Kimber Pro Carry

I think i have the 1st generation in 40 cal.

Are they good guns or not worth the money.

I like mine it fits my hand really well.

I have a S&W 59 that the palm area is just a little to big for my liking.

    I just traded for one. It seems like a good gun. Just wished it was stainless. Has some holster marks but that is what a gun is for carrying. Oh it is kind of rare because its a .40.

    The first Kimbers were excellent Guns, (Except for the Magazines). I'm not sure about the Pro Carry though.

    I have one of the "early" Pro Carry pistols in .45 and carried it for many years as my EDC. It's one of the best handguns I own. It'll run most any ammo without problems and is as accurate as any other pistols I own. I understand the later Kimber models have had some issues on occasion (ask Oakie), but I have nothing but good things to say about the one I have.

    I'm not sure I have ever seen a Kimber worth it's price tag. They all seem to have the same issues some low quality out of the box 1911s might have that are a fraction the price.

    I would buy a 1911 that is mass produced built on proven tooling like a kahr/New Auto-Ordnance or a RIA or Colt, or a hand bulit 1911 from somebody like Brown or other renowned pistol smith.

    I used to be a major 1911 nut. I?ve owned dozens of different model Kimbers in three calibers over the past 20+ years and have found each one to be accurate and reliable, even my Pro Eclipse which has the dreaded external extractor.
    I?ve also owned a number of 1911 Colts, SA, Dan Wesson, Les Baer, Wilson Combat and Ed Brown so I have been able to make some comparisons in the 47 years I?ve owned and used 1911 pistols.
    In my opinion, the Kimber pistols are some of the best values available and I would not hesitate to buy one.
    I?ve trimmed my collection down to the three brands I consider to be the best for my use. I?ve kept my Les Baers, my Kimbers and my Dan Wesson Valor Commander.

    I should've sold my CDP 2 when they replaced the whole gun on my cracked receiver.

    The new Kimbers have squandered the rep of the original Kimbers. They reached that tipping several years ago where quantity became the priority over quality. I've owned older Kimbers that were really nice pieces. I wouldn't buy a new one. I steer my funds to Dan Wesson.

    I bought a master carry ultra a couple of years ago. It had a pretty black slide and all....but the black started wearing off after a few months. Kimber wouldn't do anything about it. Blamed it on the kydex holster. It shoots good, but I'll never buy another. I like to tell everyone I know when someone doesn't stand behind their products.
