we bought a few records lately and I'm going through them to see if they play well enough to keep. right now I have America's debut on and me and the cats are just taking it easy. I go in about 5 so we (cats and I) listen to music during the day. this is a good album to just kick back and type away and enjoy a cup.
time to change - up next is Black Oak Arkansas - Raunch and Roll. as you can see I am all over the board.
wife asked me if I were "collecting" again and I said I was just buying what I liked. the only exception to that is if I'm somewhere records are $2 each or less I will buy one if it looks interesting just to check it out. my instincts are usually 50/50 on those and if they are dirty I'll show the seller and get them cheap. I have a cleaning machine at home and 90% of the dirty ones are in A+ shape when "washed".
we remodeled half the house including LR so we now have the TV on the wall and a old buffet or whatever you call it that I refurbished to match the new paint scheme, houses the stereo (70's Sansui receiver) while the sony surround sound sits on top with the turntable. turntable is hooked up to the Sansui. when I hooked it up to the sony it sounded like crap. had to use a preamp and got too much buzz/hum. the Sansui has 20 watts and the sony 7.1 has 150 w per. the Sansui sounds 1000 times better than the sony playing records.
we got rid of the old record cabinet and got 2 tower cabinets - one on either side of the buffet/ent. center. they are 5 feet tall and have 4 cubbies that are just the right size to put records in. they won't hold all of them but I've been buying records for 50 years. I still have the first album I ever bought and have parted with very few over the years. I have them alphabetized so you can find what you are looking for.
I have picture disc records in frames sitting in each cubby facing out so you don't see the records but you see the art work of the discs. everybody who's been over and seen the set up loves it. the wife didn't at first until we got all the thumps up on it. I do have an autographed Stones "Black and Blue" album and one signed by Robin Trower, and a handful that are worth a few $100+ but most are just run of the mill value wise but it's the music I like.
here's some poetic justice for ya, the wife went with a 2 tone gray with white trim and grey wood look vinyl flooring. thing is, I was in the Navy and I swore off anything grey when I got out. seen enough grey to last a life time, well maybe not. coulda put my foot down but you know the drill.
ok, coffee's wearing off - see ya in another few weeks.

IMHO there is just something about listening to vinyl that makes my brain float better! If that makes any kind of sense.

Dunno, rr. I've always used the Jump to box and I've never had a DP.
(For years, I felt the same way about bamboo as you do about the color gray - had seen MODANUFF o dat! But these days, I absolutely love bamboo fabrics. Have bamboo sheets and towels, and they are fabulous. So...anything can change.)0
