Pearl Harbor and WWII

How would WWII have been different if we had been ready for the attack ? My late father inlaw was in the Navy and out at sea on the USS Lamson (DD367) and was returning to base when the attack happened. My late mother inlaw lived off base and saw the whole attack.

  furthermore, Japan's jet fighter wqs just 5 mph faster than our production Mustangs, and in no way was there to be enough made to counter what they would see in combat. with a range of barely 120 miles flight time, this entry into the jet age of air combat wasn't the answer of saving Japan. the suicide mini-subs Kaitens, would have produced better results in slowing down the Allied onslaught of Japan. until the bombs settled that question.
