I have one and use it quite often,,I like I can put on a Brisket or Pork butt ,set the temp and let it go all night long..It will not have as strong of a smoke as a real smoker but if you add wood chips more often the last few hours of cooking its not bad. I can cook a Brisket just about fork tender 0 -

I had one for about 5 years. Good basic smoker for a decent price. Mine was bare bones with no frills. Makes some darn good food!!!
If you are new to smoking there is a website that will show you all kinds of good technique. Do a search for smoking meat forum. LOTS of good ideas. Baby back ribs are my favorite!!!!
Have fun!0 -
I like mine and it can hold heat in the cold of winter in Michigan.
Ribs, chicken, meatloaf, works very well!0 -

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me, especially coming from Cabela's (which IMHO) are a very high priced retailer.
I have no experience with this model but have been using a similar unit I bought from Sears over 10 years ago. Ken, as much as you like to dabble in the fine art of cookery, I know you will enjoy that smoker!!
But.....please don't try to smoke any TACO's![:D]0 -

The reviews of the propane version aren't exactly stellar. 0
