    A big part of the pension problem was caused by public sector unions.

    Public sector unions are an abomination simply because it is taxation without the will of the voters.

    That's nothing...you should see the union pensions that NJ and NY hand out...they are going to be in trouble too.

    chicago teachers union pension fund is 100% funded. the rest of the state[teachers] operates under the Municiple Employees Pension system, , that fund has been raided by lawmakers for nearly 75%. me ex just retired with 30+ yrs of service and won't be getting a thing. my brother retired with nearly 40 yrs paying into it, he stopped receiving checks about 6 yrs ago. their retirement was stolen by politicians. it was 100% their $ with held from ttheir checks. there was no matching funds, nor any state financial input. and they pretty much can't do a thing about it..
