Was the space station sabotaged?
The Russians believe this so.
They think it was done on the ground and are investigating. It could also been a mistake but someone then they tried to cover it up.
Either way it was no meteorite or space junk. The pictures clearly show it was a drill hole you can even see where the drill bit skipped.

A Russian official has said the International Space Station (ISS) leak could have been caused deliberately by someone on the ground.
Space agency chief Dmitry Rogozin revealed that the hole in a Russian space craft docked at the orbiting station was caused by a drill held with a 'wavering hand'.
A commission will seek to identify the culprit by name, Rogozin said, calling this a 'matter of honour' for Russia's Energia space manufacturing company that made the Soyuz space craft.
The 'micro fracture' believed to be around 2mm wide in the $150 billion (?115 billion) space station was discovered after astronauts noticed a drop in pressure on 29 August.
It was initially believed to have been caused by a small meteorite and astronauts used tape to seal the leak after it caused a minor loss of pressure.
However, as the investigation went on it began to look like the hole was made from someone inside as opposed to outside, either back on Earth or in space, the Russian space agency claimed.
A leading theory from an unnamed source at Energia has said that the hole was made on the ground ? potentially caused by 'deliberate interference' ? with suggestions the person responsible may have already been identified.
Sources suggest the question of how to fix the hole may have strained relations between Moscow and Houston.

It isn't clear to me if this is a Soyuz supply craft or a manned version. If they don't do a leak check of the craft during the pre-launch - especially given their record of asphyxiating crews - or if they did the check and failed to find this leak, it's utterly inexcusable. Such a thing should never go undiscovered.
Unless it was done by somebody aboard the ISS, hence the wandering drill. That would be even more frightening.0 -

Rocky in this article they say its the craft used to ferry astronauts. But as read further it is not in the section that the astronauts ride in.
You know more about this kind of stuff and how they work maybe you can elaborate.

If, as the article says, the leak is not in the portion that the cosmonauts ride in, it would have to be in the part labeled "A" in the drawing. All three seats are in the "B" section, and there is no passage into the unpressurized "C" section. Both the A and C parts are discarded just before the capsule re-enters on descent.
If this was done on the ground as an "oopsie" and then hastily and surreptitiously patched up, there's going to be hell to pay for whoever did it. There is a very short list of people allowed inside an actual spacecraft, so finding that worker won't be impossible.
An even shorter list of people aboard the ISS, of course. If it's one of them, they'd be perfectly aware that damaging that section of the Soyuz would not endanger the reentry, but would trigger enough problems while still attached to the station that an early crew departure could be ordered.
But nothing so serious that a bit of tape wrapped around a pencil can't plug.
Either way, a head is going to roll.0
