I just got a new gun
Well new to me. I got a Ruger Night Guard used from a guy that shoots at my range. He didn't like it because it is too heavy.
I got it for $625 and he gave me 2 wilson 8 rd mags plus the 2 Ruger mags.
Its a nice gun and shoots good. I just shot 100 rds through it at steel, a mix of CCI Blazer Brass and Aluminum 230gr, some 200gr TC Handloads of mine, a few 185gr lead handloads and a magazine of CCI 230gr Hollow points.
No problems.
It has a nice trigger and seems well made. The sights are nice and it is real smooth much smoother than my Colt Combat Commander Sr 80. The Grips are kind of ugly but they do what they are supposed to do.
I will do a better report when I can put some serious ammo through it.

The guy didn't like it because it was Too Heavy. Well he had a holster that was a POS, it was one of those leather holsters with a steel clip on it. Those things flop all over. He offered the holster but I passed.
I put it in my McDaniels II by Sam Andrews and it is fine(Just like the Colt CC I was toting)
What I like best is:
No stupid cocking serrations on the front, no Rail for a light, no Ambi Safety or extended slide release. Those "features" are all superfluous on a CC Piece. I wish it had an arched mainspring housing because I like them.
I could do without the extended Thumb Safety but its not too bad. It has a nice trigger and the beavertail grip safety with a bump is nice.
I wish the front of the grip was checkered.
The sights are nice, Drift adjustable
Novak" style with tritium, the rear have 2 small white dots and the front a larger white dot around the tritium. I could do with out the white dots but they don't bother me too much.
It kicks all my Magazines out with authority and the Mag release is a little longer than my Colt CC.
I am going to put another 100 rds through it today and then start carrying it.
Come on Ricci you said it was OK. Its all steel so its great for giving a good ole fashion pistol whipping and the front sight is steel too with radioactive crap inside, so when you punch the pistol into some jackwagons teeth not only do you make his chicklets roll down his throat but he get radiation in his mouth.[;)]0 -

I will try to get it to shoot ghetto style.
I hope it does Hedog. I have carried a Glock for a long time but I shoot a 1911 so much better and I really like them, but then again I like my G19 and 32 also.0 -

I went to my backyard range and put 250 or so rounds through it with 5 different makes of magazines and 9 types of ammo.
Mags used:
Ruger
Colt 7 rounder
Wilson 8 rounder
Shooting Star 7 rounder
Chip McCormick 10rd
Ammo
Blazer Brass 230
Blazer Alum 230
Federal match 185
Winchester White Box 230
PMC 230
Remington 230 GDHP
Winchester 230 HP Ranger
230gr Cast lead HL loaded w/unique and lubed with alox(These are crappy Dirty loads)
200gr Berrys Plated HL Loaded with RL#5
I grabbed 5 or 6 of each of the above and put them in a bowl. Then I loaded them mixed up in the Ruger Magazines and shot them. Rapid fire at a steel silhouette 30 feet away.
No Problems, I had one failure to go into battery but it was with a reload so I will call that on me. I took remedial action, tapped the slide and it went into battery so I continued to shoot.
I then loaded up all the Mags with Blazer Brass 230gr Ball and shot some drills on paper and steel from 3 yds to 45 yds. I tried limp wristing it NOGO, I was slamming in mags trying to get it to have a round jump up and hang it up, NOGO. I shot 3 mags as fast as I could at the end to see if it would get wonky when it was hot, NOGO.
The gun shoots good. Its real smooth. Its shoots a little low but not too bad its on windage wise. I may just need to get used to the big white dot front sight.
The trigger is nice. I don't want a hair trigger on a CC Gun or a combat gun.
After shooting it I took it completely apart(Even the mainspring housing which BTW is steel) and the internals look good, well made, no weird wear on anything. Between me and the guy I got it from its had about 500 rds through it(250 today, 100 yesterday and the owner said he shot 3 boxes through it).
I need to find what Defensive ammo it likes. I would feel fine using 230 gr ball but I have heard its best to use HP.
The Rem GDHP and Winchester Ranger I have the most of. I think either one is a good round.
I may get a box of Federal HST and some Speer Gold Dot to try.
Well after I stripped it and cleaned it it is in my holster and on my hip right now.0 -

Indeed, that is about what I paid for the first SR1911. This one lists for over a thousand.0 -
The guy I got it from paid $729 for it at a gun store here in town. He said they had 10 of them and were running a special, he got the last one.
The Ruger Mags that come with it are 7 round mags but he had 2, 8 rd Wilson mags he gave me with the gun. They were new and that is worth $30 right there.
The Ruger mags are really stiff, to the point that with the slide forward its difficult to seat the mag.0 -
No the Mags go in easy empty.
The springs are really stiff, its hard to get the last round in them. Then with the slide forward I cannot get them to seat and be held by the mag catch unless I use my Thumb and really push.
The mags look like they are well made, they have a steel follower and are either stainless or chrome plated. They are real slick.
When empty they jump out of the gun when the mag release is pushed.
When I stripped the gun I checked to see if the mag was hanging up but its not. I think it is more of a spring deal than a gun or metal problem, because like I said all the mags go in fine empty, the Wilson 8 rounders do fine, there is a little resistance like always but its not hard to seat them. I only had problems with the Ruger mags and as stated they are even difficult to get 7 rounds in them.0 -

So far I am pretty happy with this gun. It looks very well made and the internals are really nice. I know some are MIM but they are all fitted well from what I have seen each part meshes great together. No weird rub marks or off cut notches, The hammer is really nice and well made. The engagement of the sear and hammer is really nice. 0
