PFAFF 230 Mechanics

Doing a lot of stuff in the shop today, I started playing with this machine. THIS is the machine that made me so interested in PFAFF sewing machines.
When I first took the top off of it and saw it run, for some reason it reminded me of the Oompa Loompas in Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. With everything under there turning and spinning I was mesmerized just watching it.
Anyway, you're seeing what I saw. Enjoy!

I made this video in 2015 and just got around to putting it on Youtube today. It was doing about 350-400 stitches per minute.

    My mother could sew anything, and she wouldn't touch any sewing machine except her old PFAFF.

    Another nice machine is the older Italian NECCHI. My wife has one and looking at the quality of workmanship just amazes me.

    NECCHI is good, ELNA is a Swiss machine, it's good. Industrial JUKI is a good Japanese machine. I agree with your mom, I'm sticking with my PFAFF's.
    I work on other machines for people sometimes, but only if they are metal pre-1980. New plastic machines just don't hold up well.

    my wife bought a paff #807 (used), heavey machine, well made.............and don't work. repairman said it needs a part that is no longer made......even ebarf don't have some

    There's a lady in Norfolk England I buy parts from and a guy in the Czech Republic. You can check on ebarf Germany (Deutschland).m Most won't ship to America, but some will and your bank can get you Euros if they want cash. The part can be gotten, your repairman just isn't up to the task.

    I have 2 Pfaff machines, one is a digital embroidery 2040 and the other is an older one 1222. Both great machines.

    I had both professionally cleaned and adjusted. Some parts you cannot oil, even if you think it needs it.
