Finally replacing this worn-out carpet

Wife and I, after 20 years, are updating our home. A few years ago we replaced the carpet on one side of the house with Bamboo wood flooring. Now, it's time to finish the rest of the house.

Ordered the wood flooring today ($1,700.00) and received a quotation of $850.00 for installation. Got 2 picture windows that need and will be replaced and the wife wants to replace the kitchen countertops with granite.

Also have a lot of painting to do.

The next few weeks this house will be in a turmoil.

    That's what happens when your wife watches HGTV. Next you'll be looking at ship lap.[:D] Actually, it's a good feeling to watch the improvements.

    HGTV should be banned.
    People end up thinking they can remodel a whole house in 30 minutes. Unless, an unexpected something shows up,Then 40 minutes.

    I would think twice about granite counter tops. The require sealing at least a once a year which is a cost and maintenance headache. We went with a manmade stone product that is maintenence free. Just a thought.

    Its cheap if you do it yourself,, Sealer and cleaner cost about 20 bucks at any big box,, I bought an inexpensive car buffer,, it was under $30 and just do it myself,, Its so easy and makes the Granite look so good buffed out and sealed I do it twice a year, Just clean it,, rub on the liquid sealer.. let it dry and buff off to a great shine

    Wait till you put on an addition. Ours cost 3x the original purchase price of the house.

    I pulled some old carpet and installed the LVT wood look flooring, easy to clean and looks great, that project also entailed removing the crown and base molding, pulling off old wall paper, floating the entire wall, kiltz, paint, and now moving into the hallways with the bedrooms next.

    On the other hand we paid 29K for the house and the one down from us just listed at 165.

    Nice carpet is very expensive. We spent over 2800 on carpet for the living room. However when you are barefooted the carpet hugs your feet. LOL

    We have painted the whole inside the house, replaced all the appliances. Installed another door where 2 windows were and built another deck off of that door.

    We put down some kind of linoleum type surface in the kitchen thats about 1/8 in thick thats really soft.

    We have remodeled every room in the house except the laundry room. That will be done next year.

    We have 2 drums of 55 gallon drinkable water that expires next year. I did not want to throw it out or move it. So we will do that and replace the shingles next year.

    We have not changed the kitchen countertops because she can not make up her mind what she wants.

    Oh we have not remodeled the master bath except replace the sinks and faucets. She wants to take out the tub and instal a jacuzzi. The rest is done.
