The Only One I Ever Noticed

I was cleaning a pistol lr that i have and noticed a piece on the side of the revolver on the other side of the loading gate.

After playing with it for a few seconds it is a safety.

I have never seen a safety on a pistol before. Or just never noticed it before.

  I'm a little confused by what you mean
  ...lots of pistols have safeties of one kind of another...of course there some that dont have manual safeties....but I think even in today's market there are more that have then then dont.

  There were a number of European revolvers from the 1890-1920 time frame that had a lever type safety.

  Heritage Rough Rider .22 has a hammer block safety switch on the left rear.

  Heritage Rough Rider has the "opposite the loading gate" safety.
  Different. Some like it some don't. I do.

  Yea my revolver is really old and i do not know when it was made but i can not see red when it is up or down.
  
  It shoots decent though. I know it does not have a serial number.
