Drugs And The Family
Many years ago in the early 90s my first wife got mad at me for taking my daughter and flying to SC to play softball with my team. She knew we were going and at the last minuet she told me that i could not go. She could have went but she did not want to go.
We had a sponsor so everything was free except food. The last thing my wife told me was i was going to regret going.
She was mad at me and our neighbors introduced her to crack and that was it. I put her in inhouse rehab 4 or 5 times. I had her involutary held for 48 hours a bunch of times. I put her in outpatient rehab so many times i dont remember.
I did everything i could to help her. I stayed to long however. My daughter was 6 when the drug use started and i left when she was 8.
After we were divorced i had full custody with no visitation. One day my daughter and i came home and everything we owned was gone.
There was 1 fork in the stuff behind the refridgerator, a beach chair and a cooler. My ex wife sold everything except some of our clothes.
She sold all my kids toys, bed you name it. She also wrote 89 checks on my checking account. Her name was not on the account.
She went to prison for that. She got out after 3 or 4 years left.
From our divorce until my ex wife died my daughter saw her mother no more than 10 times. I would bring up that you should go see your Mom and she would say no. I told her that i would be there and nothing would happen to her and she would not go.
I have never spoken a bad word about my ex wife to my daughter.
When my ex wife died i tried my best to get her to go to the viewing or the funeral and she told me Theresa is her Mom. Thats my wife now.
The thing about addiction is there is nothing that you can do to stop someone from using drugs.
When it comes to drug abuse and you have to choose between wife or kids its hard to do.
I tried so hard to fix my wife that i left a negative impact on my kid. I stayed to long and it made my daughter a little to hard. She shows no emotion and she keeps everything inside. Which is bad.
If it comes to choosing between a wife or kid the one on drugs has to be let go. I have found out that tough love is the best thing you can do.
There is a meeting they have like AA for loved ones that has someone on drugs. I have never been but i have heard really good things about it.
Anyone that has a loved one on drugs might want to look into that.
Prayers for those who have loved ones on drugs. I have been down that road and its a long road that seems to have no end.
Look into the group. I think its Alonon. Im sure i spelled it wrong. I will find the name of it after i get back from the doctor.
Prayers and best wishes for things to get better.
