To think somebody here not too long ago mentioned how the class 3 folks might react, if the GCA of 68 was repealed and the prices (value?) of their weapons were to drop.

Would be pretty selfish of them to oppose that to protect their investments in lieu of the rest of us being able to afford a sensibly priced class 3 item wouldn't it? But I imagine there would be more bellyaching coming from them over that then there would be about some new "common sense" law trying to impose even more restrictions...

I think we just lost the best chance we will ever have to do away with the stupid law
the republicans WERE in control of all and could have done so much besides having petty school kid fights among them self's
they had the chance to really help gun owners just like the election promising all the BS about the 2nd amendment .
now with the democrats slithering back into power I will say the odds are well never and loosing more rights will follow

As the years that I have been into guns add up, I have noticed one thing about many gun owners.

There are many that are concerned only about their particular interests.

Your "problem" is not their problem.

Although the name is based on a cartoon character, it is NOT very funny.

Our best chance to do away with stupid laws does not lie in the hands of politicians.

repukes or demcraps...all the biggest chore in office is to dream up new TAXES....lots easier to list the few things NOT taxed,,and a MILE shorter than the list of things that ARE...except the electeds list of privileges

I spent a few years as an elected official. I learned a bunch. One of the things I learned is that you can't vote someone "out" of office. You have to vote someone "into" office.

That is the problem. Most of the time there is not someone worthy of voting into office.

Guns in general have kept up with inflation +.

Class 3 has always been an outstanding investment. Huge price increase the last 20 years.

Problem for me was insurance, storage, etc. especially when not in U.S. for months at at time. If the BATF wanted to talk/inspect, even if they knew how to contact, getting back to the U.S. would be a costly problem.

They have been, but we need to recognize that it is really is a paper backed value.

If we are certain the FOPA will never be repealed, and that the laws protecting the ability to transfer them will never be repealed, they will hold their value.

The fact, however, that it is recognized that governments, both local and federal, have the power to ban their production for the public means they also have the power to ban the transfer of existing weapons to the public. Look at the value of dealer samples as compared to fully transferrable, and you may be looking at future value.

Yep! Investments you can "play with" [}:)]
When my parents passed and my sister and I got our inheritance, I wanted to get an M16 and HK sear ... My wife said "it's your money" so I bought them. My sister blew through hers on BS stuff ... I blew through a bunch of ammo!

In just 5 years they've more than doubled; I recently bought a couple binary triggers and have seriously concidered selling the F/A's ... But that's another thread

Just think, the BS folks had a taste of full auto fire and might want to purchase them. That will only drive the prices higher. Supply and demand.

The problem with your statement is that you can only vote in your district. And if there are more districts that are liberal then there are districts that are conservative, there's nothing that we can do about that. In my district the conservative won. Goes to show there was more conservatives in my area show up.but the conservatives in my area outnumber the Liberals 4 to 1.

Yep if the government ever does ban them, on the legal market they'll become of no value, but on the black market they'll skyrocket

Of course if you don't turn them in, you'll probably lose your freedom

Sadly I have two MP5A2s in very nice condition that are dealer samples in our PD inventory....if they were transferable they'd be worth $20K plus a piece, as they are dealer samples they are worth $750 ea for sale used to another Le agency or parts. [V] So we keep them in our inventory.

"""In 1926, the Cutts Compensator (a muzzle brake) was offered as an option for the M1921; Thompsons with the compensator were cataloged as No. 21AC at the original price of $200, with the plain M1921 designated No. 21A at a reduced price of $175.

In 1928, Federal Laboratories took over the distribution of the weapon from Thompson's Auto Ordnance Corporation. The cost at this time was $225 per weapon (equivalent to $3,212 in 2017), with $5 per 50-round drum and $3 per 20-round magazine""

I saw a Colt Monitor, a version of the BAR and a favorite of Bonnie and Clyde, sell at an auction a couple weeks ago for $100,000.00.
So yes, legal FA guns have gone way up.
