Texas updates the War of Northern Aggression Curriculum

Obviously the link below does not go into sufficient detail to make a fully informed judgement, but it does seem that the right of the individual states to secede from the Union is not part of the discussion.

Absent the tyrant who occupied the White House and his GOP lackeys in Congress, would the war have occurred?

How, in 4 score and 6 years did the stirring words of our Declaration of Independence become pass? and unimportant.

The maintaining of slavery played a major role in the decision to secede by the states that eventually became the Confederacy. It had little to nothing to do, however, with Lincoln's decision to suppress the rebellion by force of arms.

Even 50 years ago, we in the North were being taught that the noble cause of the war was human freedom and liberty.

We were being lied to then, and our children and grandchildren are being lied to today.

    The Articles of Confederation did prohibit secession so it is odd that the Constitution did not. The absence of such a prohibition & the 10th amendment have to mean it was/is legal. Why if secession was illegal did the Southern States have to REENTER the Union?
    Now if we can just get the western half of Kalifornia to secede.

    I think they finally got it right once they compromised. The democrats wanted slavery listed as the only cause of the war, but David Bradley of Beaumont ([;)]) argued to keep sectionalism and states' rights as key issues as well, like they had previously been teaching. "As part of a compromise, the Republican-led board said students will be taught about ?the central role of the expansion of slavery in causing sectionalism, disagreements over states' rights and the War of Northern Aggression ." WTG Texas!

    Clearly, the whole slavery issue was trumped up as "the cause d'jour" to get more folks in the north on board. I mean, we only have the political climate of the last century to ensure us that's exactly how it went down.
